THE QUESTION...his is a great question about list building and list segmentation. Do Icreate a new list for each product that has its own landingpage?Typically, yes. If products are unrelated, I typically create a separate sub-listwithin AWeber.Why? Because I want to know what people are buying so I can targetrelated oers to them.If someone is buying, in my case, self-help licensed content, thats going to bevery dierent than if theyre buying nance licensed content. We want tosegment those people.If I have a self-help related oer I will target the self-help buyers, and if I havea nance-related oer I would target the nance buyers.Of course, if the topic is related, so lets say you have Stress Volume 1,Volume 2, Volume 3 and so on, those customers can be on the same list.TAWEBER LIST SEGMENTATION AND AUTOMATION STRATEGIES ACQYR INC., PLR.ME & RONNIE NIJMEH 3http://www.plr.me 4. WHAT ABOUT ADDING CLIENTS TOA MASTER LIST?Do I add the contacts to a main or general list?Yes, I do. In fact, that can be done automatically with AWeber. Let me showyou how this works.I have a master list in Aweber. You can see I have this setting:Subscribe to the master list when the subscriber scribes to, any ofthe other lists. I have a lot of automation rules here. This happensautomatically.There are a couple of important notes about this...First of all, this happens without requiring a double opt-in. When youhave this automation rule, as far as I know, there is no double opt-in required,meaning......if they subscribe to the plrlifetime list as shown in the screenshot, theyreautomatically subscribed to the master list and they dont have toconrm their email address again. But you have to do this right away.This automation rule only applies for new subscribers.AWEBER LIST SEGMENTATION AND AUTOMATION STRATEGIES ACQYR INC., PLR.ME & RONNIE NIJMEH 4http://www.plr.me 5. The second important note is that Aweber counts email addressesmultiple times if they are on dierent lists.Meaning... if the same person is on the 4 separate email lists, they arecounted as a subscriber four times.So if you have a 500-subscriber limit, and you have 100 subscribers on5 dierent lists each. That counts as 500 people.Its really frustrating and silly, right? But there isnt much we can do, otherthan politely asking Aweber to re-consider how they count subscribers. :)It really should be based on the email address, not the number of lists thattheyre on, but just keep that in mind, because you may end up payingmore for your list for this segmentation.HOW TO USE INCLUDE/EXCLUDE LISTS WHENSENDING AWEBER BROADCAST EMAILSHeres another trick. You dontnecessarily need to have a master list,because there is something you can do,and Ill show you an example.When you broadcast emails in Aweber,look for the Include or Exclude OtherLists checkbox.If you scroll down, you can actuallyinclude or exclude lists. Youll see allthe dierent lists that you can include orexclude.AWEBER LIST SEGMENTATION AND AUTOMATION STRATEGIES ACQYR INC., PLR.ME & RONNIE NIJMEH 5http://www.plr.me 6. Lets say Im sending an oer relating to self-help. I can include all the listsexcept for, for example, nance people.I can just click on Exclude, and everyone thats on the nance listwill not get the email, and anyone on the include list will get the email, andso you dont necessarily need a master list anymore.What are some other ways of segmenting your list? What are someways of dripping dierent emails to dierent emails?Let me tell you... :)AWEBER LIST SEGMENTATION & DAISYCHAINING AUTORESPONDERS STRATEGYHere are some additional tricks for you. For example, I have a free self-helppack. If somebody wants the free self-help pack, there are actuallyeight messages in this series.Thats not a lot of messages. You might think there should be moremessages in that. Well there are, and Ill show you what Ive done.AWEBER LIST SEGMENTATION AND AUTOMATION STRATEGIES ACQYR INC., PLR.ME & RONNIE NIJMEH 6http://www.plr.me 7. The rst seven messages are sent to them every day, for the rstseven days. Three days after the seventh day, theyre going to get the nextmessage.What happens next? I have an automation rule set up. Just likeautomatically subscribing to the master list, I have people automaticallysubscribed to a PLR follow up list.Meaning......theyre getting subscribed to two lists at the same time. When theyautomatically get signed up to the follow up list, the customer willimmediately get a second email saying, Hey, P.S. introduce yourself.Why do I have that message sent out right away? Doesnt that mean thesubscriber will get two message right away (the Your fresh PLR.me self-helpcontent... email from the previous screenshot, and the P.S. Introduceyourself email)?Yes, thats right. You see... AWeber requires a message to be sent outright away. You cant actually start it on day 14. They require you tohave a message sent out right away.So what happens is, theyre going to get the self-help content message, andtheyre also going to get the P.S. introduce yourself message right away.They will get two emails right away.But because the P.S. email is a little bit more personalized it gets people torespond, so I found that it doesnt hurt conversions or unsubscribes. Itactually works quite well.So to recap... the rst email autoresponder (shown above) sends out emailsfor the rst 10 days. Four days later, theyre going to get day 14, andAWeber looks like this:AWEBER LIST SEGMENTATION AND AUTOMATION STRATEGIES ACQYR INC., PLR.ME & RONNIE NIJMEH 7http://www.plr.me 8. So right away they get the P.S. introduce yourself, and then two weekslater theyre going to get the next email. Then it goes through and theyreceive an email two days after, one day after, four days after and so on, andtheres a number of messages.So thats another way of daisy chaining email autoresponders. You canhave one follow up email list, like I have, that actually works for all products.This follow-up sequence works for nearly any product that someonebuys from me. So customers will automatically be added to this follow upsequence.AW PRO TOOLS:AWEBER AUTOMATION & LIST SEGMENTATIONThere is another way of segmenting, and Ive used this recently and itsexcellent. There is a web service called AW Pro Tools. This is by a verygood friend of mine named Jack Born. Hes an awesome guy.AWEBER LIST SEGMENTATION AND AUTOMATION STRATEGIES ACQYR INC., PLR.ME & RONNIE NIJMEH 8http://www.plr.me 9. You can tag subscribers, so when they click on a link you can tagthem.You can move or copy them to another list. If they click on a link, youcan actually say, If they clicked on this link saying: Im interested in this stressbook, put them on the stress email list. Then they get on a new list, and thatnew list can actually send them new related autoresponders for the stressproduct, for example.You can also copy or move, copying meaning you can copy them onto amaster list or you can copy them onto a stress list or relationship listor a persuasion list or whatever list that you have, for dierent products.They also do daily backups and so on.There are some excellent stats and really cool things that you can dowith AW Pro Tools. I would recommend checking that out.FINAL SUMMARYSome of these strategies are advanced, but remember, you can do itautomatically using some not-so-obvious features within Aweber.You dont necessarily need to have a master list anymore, because itdoes cost you more money to maintain more lists, even though its thesame number of email addresses. They calculate it as unique people.You can also build sequences that tie into each other (aka daisychained autoresponders), so you can have one sequence thats sevendays long and then on day eight the emails from a new email sequencekick in.AWEBER LIST SEGMENTATION AND AUTOMATION STRATEGIES ACQYR INC., PLR.ME & RONNIE NIJMEH 9http://www.plr.me 10. Also, you can use a software called AW Pro Tools. Its web-based, it works onPC or Mac through your web browser. Its an excellent tool to help youwith your list segmentation.Bottom line:You absolutely need to be segmenting your list. You absolutely need toknow who wants what, who likes what and the segmentation is very, veryimportant. It means youll be able to send aliate oers andpromotions that are targeted.Instead of mass mailing your entire list, youre only sending it to 30%of your list and actually getting 100% more conversions because ofthat.As mentioned, there is no way of auto-segmentation based on linkclicks or triggered emails within Aweber, unless you use AW ProTools. Of course, AW Pro Tools is not built into Aweber. It is a separatesubscription.But it is worth it, just for the segmentation alone.The bottom line is, segmentation is very important.
