Hello all HHYC members, As the end of 2016 nears, I would like to thank everyone in the club that helped me throughout the year to make the experience of being commodore so great. All of the events were so great and I had a wonderful time. There were lots of changes this year from the location of meetings and changes in rendezvous management. Everyone embraced the changes and I believe the club is moving in the best direction. I would like to thank all the hosts, bridge, officers and everyone who helped just make everything run smoothly. There are so many that I can’t name you all in this letter, but thank you all! I would like to recognize Carol Soffel for providing meeting minutes when we did not have a secretary (which we still are looking for a volunteer). I have truly enjoyed serving as commodore this year and I look forward to what next year will bring. Our last event was the Pay your Dues party on November 12th at Queen City Yacht Club. This was another great event with good food, fun and friends. There were donation of teddy bears and
crayons for Children’s hospital. There was plenty of fun with games and raffles which made money for the club. Sue Burke had some great new clothing options. I especially liked (and bought) a great light rain jacket. The last event for this year is the Commodore’s ball on January 21. This is a wonderful way to end 2016 and thank those who contributed to the club and welcome the new bridge with good food and dancing. It will be at the Decca Hotel again. If you are planning on staying please make your reservations prior to December 20th and mention HHYC (room rate $99). I look forward to seeing you all. Please join us at Tutta Bella on December 13th for the board meeting. We will have some appetizers and something special to celebrate HHYC 40th anniversary. In addition, Dane will provide some insight to what to expect next year. So come join us for the meeting. Please note that the February board meeting has been moved from the 14th to the first Tuesday
February 7th to free up your Valentine’s Day.. Finally, please be safe out on the water and continue to enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Northwest waters. See you there Mary Scott, Commodore

COMMODORE’S BALL
Our next event, the HHYC Commodore’s Ball will be held at the Deca Hotel in the U district on Saturday,
January 21st. Once again, we have the Ball Room booked for our event and will kick off the special
evening with happy hour and appetizers in the foyer. This is the creme de la creme of events for our
yacht club. We hope to see all of you there. Your evite will be out just before Christmas.
Once again, HHYC members will be staying the night in the Presidential Suite. This will allow us to con-
tinue our celebration after the Ball Room closes down (around 10:30). If you missed this last year, than
you must join us in 2017! The penthouse offers a spectacular view of our city and there may even be
HHYC clothing to purchase, so bring your checkbook.
The club has also booked a group of rooms for other members to stay the night, if desired. Reservations
are to be made by each individual calling the hotel directly at (800) 899-0251. The special price is $99
per room. This is good only until December 21st and currently, we only have 8 rooms left. When you
call, make sure you mention that you are with HHYC. The arrival date is 01/21/2017.
