Grant Activity: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in area of specialization. Participate in tutorials and student advising and assist with
curriculum development. Work with host faculty on research projects. Conduct research in area of specialization.
Length of Grant: Four to nine months; nine months preferred.
Grant Dates: One-semester grants may begin in October 2014 or February 2015; two-semester grants must begin in October 2014.

Degree Requirements: PhD (or other terminal degree such as MFA, JD, or MD) required.
Professional Profile: Open to academics only. Open to early career applicants (within five years of terminal degree).

Summary: Approximately eight grants for teaching or teaching/research
Program Overview: Higher education in Romania has undergone deep structural changes in the past 20 years, having changed from a small state-controlled system before 1990 to a more competitive one with a larger number of students and growing research activities. Thequality of the higher education sector is expected to improve in the coming years due to legislated educational reforms andincreased funding. The Fulbright Program in Romania started in 1960 and has contributed to the democratization of the countryThe Program is highly appreciated and valued in Romania.

Base Stipend/
Maintenance:For 2012-13, the following was provided: $2,640-$2,860 monthly base stipend.
Taking into consideration the Other Award Allowances, Fulbright Scholar grants to Romania offer one of the most generousbenefits in the region.
Subsistence: For 2012-13, the following was provided: $250-$450 per month, based on the number of accompanying dependents.
Housing: For 2012-13, the following was provided: $800-$1,100 per month housing allowance, based on accompanying dependent(s).
Additional Allowances and Special Benefits
Travel Relocation: For 2012-13, the following was provided: $3,200-$7,600, based on the number of accompanying dependents.
Other Award
Allowances:For 2012-13, an additional stipend of $1,000 per month was provided, paid in the local currency by the Romanian Government.
