„Volunteer initiatives in Lovech - 2“ Project

Association “Ecomission 21st century” Lovech, Bulgaria is looking for four EVS volunteers for project “Volunteer Initiatives in Lovech - 2” with which the association will apply to 1 st October 2012. The main objective of the project is related to enhancement local community’s capacity for implementation of youth volunteer initiatives at local and international level; to contribute for a formation of ecological and civil culture through non formal education in children from Lovech primary schools, who to be like a sample of imitation for environmental protection for other kids; to initiate activities in that field and to enriched children’s imagination in additional with traditions and culture of new European countries.

The project will be implemented in the town of Lovech, Bulgaria. EVS volunteers will help Ecomission team in daily administrative activities, organizing events, developing new projects and initiatives with their fresh ideas.

We expect from them to present native traditions and culture through organizing national eves and developing local youth interests in introducing new cultures. We expect their own creative, artistic, sport ideas for activities directed to local youth and etc.

Volunteer tasks:

Popularization of EVService’s messages:

• Support in planning events directed to advertising EVS in local schools and universities. – Activities’ implementation within EVS (production of advertising brochures, which can be disseminated by web sites, local partners or media TV, radio and newspapers;International

Youth Exchanges

• Development of the international cooperation of “Ecomission 21st

century” – making contacts with potential partners;

• Searching for participants in youth exchanges and participation in the preparation of the participants: implementation of informal meetings and trainings for young people and participation in international youth exchanges;

• Supporting the Head of the youth exchange in the following activities: planning, contacts with international partners;

• Realization of photographic materials and videos.

Implementation of youth initiatives

• EVS volunteers will participate in the implementation of the following youth initiatives:

participation in “Young mayor for a day” Event;

Movie Week in Lovech during May 2013;

Assisting the team of “Ecomissiom 21st century” in the initiative Summer Youth Internships – internships for students in public institutions;

Youth happening devoted on 12th August International youth day;

activities in partnership with local municipality, museum and more.

Workshops for children and youth.

EVS volunteers will support the planning, the implementation and the evaluation of training modules that are

differentiated according to the age target group (1319 years) that will be realized in cooperation with local

schools using the methods of informal education on the following topics:

European citizenship;

Informal education and creative activities;

Volunteering;

Environmental education;

Participation and active citizenship;

Intercultural activities and cultural diversity

;

EVS volunteers will work for creation of one bulletin with results from implemented project activities in the schools.

Eco course in the field of environmental protection, waste, energy and water saving, environmental vehicles, topics in relation to bio diversity, extinct, in danger animals; virtual trips, artistic and applied activities.

Art work room for making souvenirs from waste.

Daily eco vacations – collecting herbs and making herbariums; educational activities in the

open; forming environmentally thinking and etc.

Summer camp – taking children far from the town environment, close to the nature.

Competition for verbal creativity and drawing “The beauty of Ossam River” with participation of children from settlements from Ossam river’s bed from the town of Troyan to Nikopol.

Creation of advertising materials PC mouse pads with kids’ messages in connection to

environment protection.

The expected EVS volunteers have to be:

Happy to work with children and youth;

To have good computer, presentation, photo and video technical skills;

To be creative, open minded, flexible persons;

To have a wish for learning Bulgarian language for good communication with locals;

To have a will to work six hours per day with the support of their mentor;

To be motivated, enthusiastic and active person;

To be ready to work in a team;

To be ready to share their experience with other people;

To have Not any alcohol, cigarettes or drag dependences;

We will choose 8 candidates and we will send them a questionnaire to be completed in order to choose 4 volunteers for our project.

Ecomission 21st Century Association

We are one non governmental association in the town of Lovech, which is situated in the beautiful Ossam River

valley. The organization is established in 2001 and its one of the most active organizations in the region. Some

of our key priorities are:

Ecological education for children and youth

Enhancing youth activities in public life

Confirmation volunteer values and encourage cultural variety and intercultural dialogue

We make all

mentioned above through different initiatives like: campaign for information raising; organizing local events, workshops, conferences, searching citizens opinions and etc.
