Around 95 percent of all emails are spam - an enormous load on communication processes and a constant threat to businesses. Avira AntiSpam is a unique service available worldwide that reliably protects against spam and offers the possibility to iden-tify and categorize all mass emails. Avira AntiSpam can also detect potentially dangerous content in emails that could chan-ge a system.

Avira AntiSpam dispenses with classical methods of spam detection and uses in particular the mass mail characteristic

of spam to clearly identify them as such. With a combined key method, a finger-

print of each incoming email is generated which enables iden-tification as a mass mail. This fingerprint is sent to a databa-se, which checks this code and responds with a category. This information is returned before the email reaches the mailbox of the recipient. The whole process only takes fractions of a se-cond. As the code transmitted only is an extract of the whole mail of a few bytes, the method does not allow conclusions to be drawn regarding its content. In this way, every mail is iden-tified and allocated to a certain category based on the identifi-cation, for example “General mass mailing”, “Spam email” or “Clean email”. Users can therefore individually decide what is to be done with these categorized emails.

The Virus Scan Interface (VSI) from SAP offers an inter-face for the NetWeaver® application platform to integra-te with virus protection solutions.
