Avian coccidiosis is one of the most economically important diseases of the poultryindustry.

Coccidiosis is a common protozoan disease in poultry and other animals especially inpigs, characterized by enteritis and bloody diarrohea.

Coccidiosis is caused by mainly nine species of Eimeria protozoa and clinical symptomsare bloody faeces, ruffled feathers, anaemia etc.

A poorly fed bird are more suscepitble than well fed birds. Coccidiosis in chickens is either intestinal or cecal. Intestinal coccidiosis mainly caused

by E. necatrix and cecal Coccidiosis caused by E. tenella. Coccidiosis is more common in young birds than old birds because older birds are

usually immune due to prior infection. Coccidiosis usually occurs more often in warmmonths like May-September rather than cold months like October-April.
