Psychology Association I hope everyone's semester is moving

along well thus far. We enjoyed

meeting so many new friends at the

Mini-Student Organization Fair! We

hope to see all of you at our upcoming

meeting on Thursday, March 3 in

Avery 256 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The RRHEC Psychology Association

will be hosting a social event on

Sunday, April 10 at 4 p.m. at the T.G.I.

Friday's off University Blvd. Both

members and non-members are

welcome at this event. It will be a great

networking opportunity for everyone.

The Student Leadership and Activities

Organization (SLAO) raised $95 during

the wooden rose sale and rice crispy

treat fundraiser. Thank you for

supporting SLAO!

SLAO will host a Pot Luck Dinner on

Monday, April 11 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

All faculty, staff, students, veterans

and student organizations are invited to

attend to meet/greet/eat outside of

School of Nursing by the Nursing building on Friday

mornings from 8-9 AM to purchase

Round Rock donuts for $1. Also, if

you have old cell phones you would

like to get rid of, please bring them

by the Nursing building so we can

recycle them for the cell phone

drive. We are excited to be here

and look forward to the difference

we can make in the community.

We are happy to announce that

Texas State Nursing School has a

new Student Nursing Organization.

To let you know a little about what

we’ve done, we have participated in

a number of community activities,

namely, Memory Walk 2010, Susan

G. Komen Race for the Cure, Light

the Night Walk, and Mission

Possible’s Church Under the

Bridge.

We were also able to adopt a family

from Georgetown, Texas for the

2010 holiday season. Some of the

exciting, upcoming events that we

have planned include participating

in the Health Fair that will be held in

the Nursing building on April 30 and

Donut Fridays. We would like to

invite anyone who would like to

participate in Donut Fridays to come

This session challenges the

participant to establish a ―life plan‖

mapping out where he or she

wishes to move toward.

The participants do not have to

register. Lunch will be provided

for the April 5 presentation—first

come, first serve or feel free to

bring your own lunch.

Remember, there is no charge

and everyone is welcome.

The community and students at

Texas State University are invited to

a free lecture series at the Round

Rock Higher Education Center. The

series will focus on life issues such

as returning to college, marriage and

family issues. Many students,

faculty, staff, and community

members attended the first two Life

Lecture Series hosted at the

RRHEC on February 8 and March 1.

Life Stresses‖ and ―Is Your Career

What you Want‖?

There will be an Open Forum for all students and faculty hosted by

the Management Department Chair, Dr. Rechner and Assistant

Chair/Internship Coordinator, Mrs. Dietert.

Imagine 2011 The 3rd Annual Imagine Arts/Fine Arts Event sponsored by Texas

State’s RRHEC and the Round Rock Area Arts Council took place

on Friday, February 25. It was a beautiful evening. The art work is

on display on the 3rd and 4th floors. We encourage you to stop by

and enjoy the work of local artists.

Thank you to all students, faculty, staff, and alumni who

volunteered for this event.

We Remember Wendie Melikian

and if that was not enough Patrick was a

Professions Development Assistant and

Adjunct instructor all during his three year

tenure. Patrick left Texas State University

– San Marcos in 2009 to be the Academic

Advisor for the University of Nevada at

Las Vegas. Texas State pulled him back

to the University this January.

Patrick earned his Bachelor of Science

Texas State University Round Rock lost

a member of our Early Education Class

for 2012 this past January 30, 2011.

Wendie Long Melikian was a wife,

mother of three children, friend and

fellow classmate that lost her life to

brain cancer, that was found in

December. Wendie had a great

passion for teaching and was the

most dedicated student anyone could

ask for. Her presence with us in our

classrooms is missed on a daily

basis but her love of life and children

will always be with us.
