Commodore’s MessageOn behalf of the Flag Officers and Trustees of the Avalon Yacht Club
I am happy to extend this traditional greeting to our members, guests, and visiting yachtsmen.
Your committee, chairmen have prepared an enjoyable social and sailing program to provide every .member of the family with fun and relaxation.
Our younger members will find recreation and competition in our excellent youth program, under the capable direction of Dick Shoemaker.
The annual Avalon Regatta, inter-club sailing, Decorated Boat Parade and the increasingly popular Navigation Contest will appeal to the boating enthusiast.
Your entertainment committee will present many new and exciting ideas in our newly decorated, air-conditioned club house. Your participation in the planned events will guarantee a rewarding, long-remembered season.
My sincere thanks to all of those who have given their time and efforts. Also, to our advertisers and boosters of this book I give my sincere thanks
George Nessenthaler

Women’s Auxiliary
It gives me great pleasure to welcome all members to the 1971 season at the Avalon Yacht Club. I am anticipating an extremely exciting year and extend to each member a cordial invitation to come out and participate in the numerous events we have planned.
Our 1971 season begins with the Rummage Sale on June 23rd and 24th. The next new exciting event for the auxiliary is our Wine Tasting Party on July 11th. On August 3rd our Fall Fashion Show will be held at the Club.
In addition to these events, the Auxiliary sponsors the Junior Intermediate Group who have a busy schedule planned, highlighted by the Best Citizen Award.
I’m looking forward to seeing each of you at our monthly meetings and at each of the endeavors of the Auxiliary.

FUELSFOR THE HOlAt
N ou ;— long before your weather-eye detects the change in the wind that heralds another winter—set your course to sail smoothly through the heating season by signing a fuel oil contract with McCandless, Gillis & Moore, or Allhouse Fuels. All winter you’ll be served by a dealer to whom you will be a person, not a “punch card” . . . a name, not a number.Call or write today. Next winter when your home is a “snug harbor,” you’ll be glad you did.
