The impact of HE reforms on learning and teaching

While the four nations may differ in their approach to reform of provision in higher education, all agree it will be achieved through excellence in teaching that inspires excellence in learning. As the national body for learning and teaching, the Higher Education Academy (HEA) is committed to establishing a body of evidence that helps to shape and inform policy, and underpins changes to practice.

The HEA invites bids for two pieces of commissioned research and proposals for new research in a third area:

OPEN CALL: The impact of the shifting higher education landscape on learning and teaching – max £20,000

RESEARCH TENDER OPPORTUNITY: Review of HEFCE Quality Enhancement Policies - The deadline for funding applications to be received is 21st February 2013.

The HEA’s Travel Fund was massively popular in 2011/12, with many academics and postgraduate students attending learning and teaching events across the four nations to disseminate and hear about good practice. The criteria for applying to the fund have changed for the coming academic year, with grants now available in three streams:

•Funding for travel to an event across a nation’s border (e.g. from Northern Ireland to England, Scotland or Wales);

•Funding for travel for students to attend a learning and teaching event;

•Funding for travel to present a paper about learning and teaching.

Further information is available on the HEA website.
