Ockham’s Razor present
THE MILL Directed by Toby Sedgwick (Olivier Award for Best Theatre Choreographer for the National Theatre production War Horse). Dramaturg by Rufus Norris (Evening Standard Award for best Director).
Ockham’s Razor, the critically acclaimed aerial theatre company who specialise in creating physical theatre on new pieces of aerial equipment, return with their new show The Mill.
Experience the sweat, grind and grit of physical work in a wheel of wood and steel which is powered by the five performers and suspended in the air. In The Mill a seemingly small decision or action can gather momentum and impetus beyond your control, snowballing until you find yourself running like mad to power the treadmill whilst someone else is riding it like a ferris wheel.
“aerial artistry and theatrical flair” The Times
Performance: Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 September at 7.45pmTickets: £8.50 to £19.50
LIPSERVICE BEST BITS COME AND CELEBRATE 25 YEARS OF LIPSERVICE LUNACY.
Yes, it’s hard to believe from their youthful good looks and physical elasticity, that the ladies of LipService have been performing together for a quarter of a century, (well they started incredibly young, four years old apparently).
To mark this momentous occasion, they present a comedy confection of the best bits of LipService - from Withering Looks, Women on the Verger, Very Little Women, King Arthur and the Knights of the Occasional Table, film clips from B-Road Movie and Horror for Wimps and even some very early stand up, who remembers Girls in Orbit, or Mavis the period from their first cabaret show, Coming on Late?
This promises to be the LipService Silver Jubilee event of the year.

Inspector Sands presents
IF THAT’S ALL THERE IS A couple are teetering on the brink of marriage. As the happiest day of their lives approaches, the panic begins to rise. And everyone’s watching.
Through the eyes of a jaded therapist and an awkward teenage girl we witness a case study of longing, envy, disappointment and violent urges, examining our obsession with seeking fulfilment at any cost.
For anyone who’s ever wanted to stand on a windswept plain, howling for lost love.
Inspired by the Peggy Lee song, ‘Is That All There Is?’, this is the latest show from Inspector Sands (“a young company with a big talent”, The Times), recent winners of the Edinburgh International Festival Fringe Prize 2009. Their award-winning hit debut Hysteria has toured extensively around the UK and internationally.
“The terrific thing about this show is that it works on many levels and always underpins the comedy with real emotion. Brilliant, slippery. Deliciously sharp and witty.” The Guardian
“The excellent Inspector Sands. A wickedly funny and well-honed piece in which situation comedy veers from everyday banality to surreal imaginings.” The Herald

KING MACBETH Written by Deborah McAndrewDirected by Robert Marsden
Setting the record straight?
Critics of Shakespeare’s wholesale defamation of the fiery Macbeth beware! Now, at last, is a new play, based on new facts about the life of the much maligned Scottish king.
Deborah McAndrew’s King Macbeth paints a compelling portrait of a gifted and charismatic young man, blown by the winds of birth, grief and love to the brink of power.
Using a haunting blend of music, prose and verse, McAndrew discovers passion, violence and surprising tenderness in 11th Century Scotland.
The reputation of a great man is restored... or is it?

It’s 1979, Ian Dury and the Blockhead’s new single Reasons To Be Cheerful (Part 3) is climbing the charts. Vinnie and his mates are big Ian Dury fans and they’re desperate for tickets to see him at the Hammersmith Odeon, but the gig’s sold out. Vinnie will do anything to see the Blockheads, but life is complicated.
When the chance of going to the gig falls into his lap, Vinnie‘s pilgrimage from Southend to Hammersmith turns into the most extraordinary journey of his life.
Set during a time of political change and social upheaval, the show includes some of Dury’s best loved songs (What a Waste, Sweet Gene Vincent, Clever Trevor, Reasons to be Cheerful) played live by an astonishingly versatile company of actor-musicians. This is a show with all the wit, cheek and rascally defiance of Dury himself.

Gecko has created an intoxicating world where a man’s thoughts and dreams spill out into everyday life.
In a futile government department reminiscent of Chaplin’s Modern Times - Akakki falls in love with the beautiful Natalia. And at what cost?
Get the coat, get the girl, change the world!
Gecko has used Gogol’s story as a germ to infect and inspire this piece which has evolved and cultured over two years whilst touring to Brazil, Columbia, South Korea, Israel and China.

THE MEETING BEHIND THE ICONS, ARE THE MEN By Jeff StetsonDirected by Chuck Mike
Behind the myths, are the human struggles that change the course of history.
It’s Valentine’s Day in Harlem, 1965. Malcolm X has returned from the UK to an America seething with violence and hatred. His house has been fire-bombed and in one week’s time, he will be assassinated at the Audubon Ballroom.
But tonight, separated from his family and with a death warrant on his head, he will risk the scorn of his followers to meet with the iconic leader whose philosophy he has so fiercely opposed: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Taking place just days after Malcolm X’s electrifying visit to England, this highly imagined encounter captures the individual humanity, political maturity and enduring integrity of two men who would ultimately give their lives for freedom.
The Meeting is a theatrical event that challenges the state of equality in Britain, from the civil rights era to the present day. Join in with an interactive exhibition and post show forum, and play your part in the debate about creating greater equality in Britain today.

Combine the team who brought us Hot Mikado, with the composer who wrote the music for It’s A Wonderful Life (both last Autumn) and you get Spend, Spend, Spend!
Stylish, classy and a major force in music theatre, it’s not surprising that Craig Revel Horwood (Strictly Come Dancing) and Sarah Travis’ music theatre production of Spend Spend Spend! won Best Musical last year for The Watermill.
Described as a cross between Billy Elliot and Blood Brothers, it follows the rags to riches to rags story of Viv Nicholson a coal miner’s wife from Castleford, who won £152,319 on the pools in 1961, at that time the biggest sum ever won.
The amazingly talented 12 strong cast act, sing, dance and play all the music, creating a truly extraordinary theatrical event not to be missed.

Accessible Performances
Captioned Performances for deaf, deafened and hard of hearing patrons
“I started to lose my hearing as a teenager, so for nearly 50 years I have been unable to enjoy the theatre. The invention of captions is so exciting, making live theatre available to the deaf and hard of hearing.” Dianne Miller, Hadleigh
Audio Described Performances and pre-show Touch Tours for Blind
and partially sighted patrons
“The AD (Audio Description) was brilliant, giving enough commentary to keep up with the plot, but not becoming so constant that it became hard to follow what was happening on stage. The opportunity to participate in the touch tour was really helpful” Piers Nummelin & Oyster, Bury St Edmunds
British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreted performances for Deaf and
patrons who use BSL
“I lost all my hearing 26 years ago and decided to learn sign language. So with full access via the interpreter I am very happy. Thank you for providing such a wonderful service.” Jeanette Wright, Colchester
