T was the night before Christmas… This winter come along to atmospheric Barley Hall for a unique festive experience exploring the history and traditions of Christmas; tucked away in a courtyard off Stonegate right in the centre of the City, this hidden gem medieval townhouse steeped in history will be decorated for the season and offering a cosy tavern serving steaming mugs of mulled wine along with real ales and juices by candlelight. With a seasonal reimagining of the Hamlet to Hollywood exhibition featuring pantomime costumes from the fabulous Berwick Kaler and the opportunity for children to meet Father Christmas and get a lovely gift to put under the tree, Barley Hall has something to offer everyone this December. As part of our festive transformation of Barley Hall a very special visitor will be in residence at weekends through December, starting today! Seated in our splendid Great Chamber, decorated for the season, children will meet a traditional Father Christmas and receive a lovely gift to put under their tree.No booking required.

Gather in the gloriously atmospheric setting of the Great Hall for a mixture of traditional carols, seasonal stories and entertainment presented against a backdrop of traditional decoration and soft candlelight; this intimate evening is just the thing to get you in the festive spirit!
