Q: When do classes begin?

A: Some classes follow standard fall and spring semester schedules. Other classes vary and start throughout the year. Some are one-day seminars and others meet regularly for several nights a week. Some weekend classes are available and online training is another option.

Q: What is the difference between full-time and short-term courses?

A: All training at Autry is designed to help prepare students to succeed in the workplace, but the two primary categories of training are classified as full-time and short-term:

Full-time programs meet daily and follow a standard school semester schedule. Most full-time programs offer morning, afternoon or all-day class options to meet your schedule. Some offer evening options. The full-time programs can be completed in varying time frames-from 9 months to 24 months depending on the program.

Short-term courses vary from one-day training seminars to much longer courses like EMT/Paramedic, for example.

Q: What is your refund policy for short-term classes?

A: • Refunds of tuition will be given only for withdrawals prior to the beginning of the 2nd class session.

• Allow at least 5 to 7 working days for your refund to be processed.

• Full refunds are available for classes cancelled by Autry.

• No refunds will be given on textbooks or supplies.

• Company withdrawal: A company is responsible for tuition charges for students enrolled unless they officially withdraw their employee prior to the first class.

• No refunds will be given on one-day classes not cancelled prior to class.

• Minimum age of 16 years for enrollment is required unless otherwise specified. (Not applicable to online courses. Does not apply to semester-type classes.)

Q: Is financial aid available?

A: Absolutely! Many students receive some type of financial assistance. The financial aid office is happy to work with you to find the best options to fit your needs, including scholarships, Pell grants, Autry Educational Foundation assistance and payment plans.

For the FAFSA form, Autry’s Federal School Code is 013530. Applications are available at Autry or you can apply online at fafsa.ed.gov.

Q: When is tuition due?

A: Payment for short-term classes is due at enrollment and most includes books and supplies.

Tuition for semester schedule courses may be paid quarterly. Payment for books and supplies is due by the first day of class. If you have any questions, be sure to ask when you enroll.

Q: Does Autry offer career counseling?

A: Yes! Counselors are available to help prospective students with assessment and exploration of career choices. Just call to make an appointment.

Q: Will Autry help me find a job?

A: Yes! Autry’s full-time Job Developer focuses on securing training-related employment in area businesses for students. The Job Developer also works with all full-time students to develop resumes, prepare for job interviews, and more. Autry also posts an updated list of area job openings at autrytech.com and on campus.

Q: What do I need to do to enroll?

A: All adult students applying for admission to Autry’s semester schedule courses begin by taking an assessment and scheduling an appointment with a career counselor. Appointments can be made by calling during business hours. High school students interested in attending Autry may apply for admission during their high school spring and/or fall enrollment. However, Autry career counselors are available for consultation any time during the year.

You may enroll in person, by phone or online for many of Autry classes. Enroll in person at 1201 W. Willow from 8am–8pm, Monday–Thursday, and 8am–4pm on Fridays. Call 580.242.2750 (or toll-free 888.663.2798 in Garfield County only) during business hours to enroll by phone or go online at autrytech.com at your convenience.

Q: What are enrollment guidelines for short term classes?

A: • Payment is required when enrolling.

• Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis

• Early enrollments help keep classes from being cancelled.

• Textbooks normally are included in the class tuition.

• Unforeseen circumstances may cause the date or time of a class to be changed. Does not apply to semester-type classes

Q: How old do I have to be to attend classes?

A: Anyone age 16 and over may enroll in most classes. Most semester schedule courses are open to high school juniors and seniors, and adults, although some courses are for adults only.

Q: Can Autry help my company or organization?

A: Autry’s Business and Industry Services Department offers opportunities for customized business training. From computer training, customer service skills, and organizational development, to safety training and small business management consulting–Autry has experts to help train your staff or grow your business. Trainers can provide classes at Autry or train your employees onsite.

The Mike Nicholas family’s ongoing relationship with Autry increases the quality of their lives and helps them better serve their clients at Nicholas Eye Clinic. Although none of the family attended class at Autry until after they had graduated from college, they are all committed life-long learners and value the training they—and their employees—receive at Enid’s CareerTech.

Family is important to Dr. Mike Nicholas. He and his son, Dr. Tom Nicholas, are partners in their business. Mike’s wife, Joan, is an optician there and Tom’s wife, Valerie, is their office “guru,” according to Mike. They enjoy working together and take pride in taking first-rate care of their patients.

Every adult family member has taken classes at Autry. Mike has taken cabinet making, small engine repair, tile laying and medical coding courses and has made new friends in every class. “Autry is my personal life learning program,” explains Mike. “I’m not through taking classes.”

Joan appreciates the way the computer classes are taught and credits her training at Autry to helping her better understand how to operate the PC at the office. Tom took the small engine class, and he and his parents enjoyed learning about storm spotting in a recent weather class. Valarie, who likes to tackle “do-it-yourself” projects around the house, learned to tile at Autry and then installed a new floor at her house.

“Autry’s main goal of training people to have an avocation so they can be productive citizens is all one could hope for,” says Mike. The family is pleased with the Autry students they have hired to work in the office.

The Nicholas family also values the cooking that the culinary students do. Many days, Mike and Joan have lunch on campus, which is just across the street from their Nicholas Eye Clinic. It is safe to say the family thinks that Autry is an asset to the community. “Not only would I recommend Autry, I have many times!” says Mike.

“Not only would I

I have many

Dr. Mike Nicholas

The Mike nicholas family’s ongoing relationship with Autry increases the quality of their lives...and helps them better serve their clients at Nicholas eye Clinic.
