Andreas Luczak, Managing Director, Vanadis Power GmbH, GermanyDr. Luczak joined Vanadis Power GmbH as Managing Director in June 2013. In this role he is introducing the advanced version of the flow battery technology of UET in the European market. He successfully installed Europeans largest Flow Battery in Germany. Prior to this, he managed the power electronics group within the Siemens photovoltaic division and held positions as R&D manager within the Automation&Control groups of Siemens Automotive and Siemens Power Generation and as Innovations Manager within the Siemens Industrial Service Business.

Dr. Matthias Leuthold, Chief Engineer, RWTH Aachen, GermanyDr. rer. nat. Matthias Leuthold, works at the chair for Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage Systems at ISEA of RWTH Aachen University. He is Head of the section “Grid Integration and Power System Analysis”. His main field of expertise is the techno-economic evaluation of competing storage technologies in a range of applications ranging from a few kWh for domestic PV-storage systems to MW/MWh systems for a variety of applications including ancillary services.

Tae-Kyung Lee, Ford Motor Company, USADr. Tae-Kyung Lee is currently with Ford Motor Company, USA, in the Department of Modern Computational Methods & Computational Intelligence. He has over 17 year professional experience in the automotive area in Academia and Industry. His main research interests cover alternative and hybrid powertrain systems, electrochemical battery modelling for controls, advanced internal combustion engine modelling and controls, driving cycle analysis, and the control of automotive and powertrain systems.

Duncan Gregory, WestCHEM Chair of Inorganic Chemistry, Glasgow University, United KingdomHe has published over 125 scientific papers, 1 international patent and 1 book chapter. He is Editor in Chief of Inorganics, an Associate Editor of Materials for Renewable and Sustainable Energy and sits on the Editorial Board of Nanomaterials and Energy and the Editorial Advisory board of Dalton Transactions. He was Vice-President of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Materials Chemistry Division from 2010-13 and won the RSC Sustainable Energy Award in 2009.

Cyril Truchot, Battery Testing Manager, Aquion Energy, USAHe is a battery engineer specialized in electrochemical energy storage tests and validation, with over 7 years of experience in conducting tests on various advanced commercial Li-ion and Na-ion battery technologies for mobile and stationary applications. As a manager of the battery technology at Aquion Energy, he is leading the development, testing and validation of the Aqueous Hybrid Ion battery for energy storage systems ranging from 2 to 100kWh+. He holds two Masters of Science in Mechanics of Materials and Structure (IFMA, France, 2009) and in Mechanical Engineering (University of Hawaii, USA, 2012), respectively and his Master’s thesis work in Hawaii has led to numerous peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.

Oliver Ehret, Business Development Manager, National Organization for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells, GermanyOliver Ehret works as Programme Manager Hydrogen Provision for the National Organization Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NOW GmbH) since April 2008. NOW is responsible for the management and implementation of the National Innovation Programme Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP) of the German federal government. Prior to joining NOW, Oliver worked as innovation researcher into aerospace at Cardiff University in Wales. In 2005 he completed his PhD at Cardiff University, investigating innovation processes towards the market introduction of fuel cell vehicles in Germany. Previous work focused on environmental innovations in the transport sector, such as vehicle catalytic converters.

Olivier Teller, Product Director, Alstom Hydro Power S.A., FranceProduct Director for Pumped Hydro Storage Plants responsible for the product development strategy to address to the global market. He began at Alstom as Large Hydro Product Manager, led products marketing projects (new products development and communication packages). He worked for the CERN as a coordinator of an international team of physicists and implemented risk management strategies. He is a frequent industry speaker, published numerous papers on hydroelectricity and renewable energy. He is also Board member of EASE (European Association for the Storage of Energy and Super Grid Institute

Dr. Salvio Chacko, Lead Engineer Advanced Thermal Integration, Tata Motors Ltd, United KingdomDr Salvio Chacko works as Lead Engineer - Advanced Thermal Integration at Tata Motors European Technical Centre. Dr Chacko is a skilled mechanical engineer with over 16 years experience in product development using analytical methods, computer aided engineering (CAE), prototype build and testing within the automotive, aerospace and nuclear sector. Dr Chacko has a background in aero thermal systems development and is currently responsible for leading thermal management concept development on Tata Motors electrified programs.

Paul Codani, PhD Researcher, PSA Peugeot Citroën, FrancePaul Codani received the M.Sc. degree in Energy Engineering from Supelec university, Paris, and the M. Sc. degree in Physics and Engineering of Energy from University of Paris-Sud, Paris, in 2013. He is currently pursuing his PhD on Grid Integrated Vehicles from CentraleSupelec University and PSA Peugeot Citroen. His areas of interest are in Smart Grids, Demand Response and Electrified Vehicles.

Maik Honscha, Project Leader Electric Mobility, Vattenfall Europe GmbH, GermanyDr.-Ing Maik Honscha began working at the Department Energy Distribution and High Voltage Engineering in November 1997 as a technical employee of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus. His area of responsibility was to work on projects in the field of optical measurement of high electrical voltages and currents. In June 2007 Mr. Honscha became a scientific assistant at the chair of Energy Distribution and High Voltage Engineering. He took over the lab responsibilities in the subjects “High-Voltage Engineering and Insulation Materials”, “Protection of Energy Transmission Systems”, “EMC in Electrical Power Systems” and “Power Automation”. In July 2010 he moved to Vattenfall Europe Generation AG, where he is responsible for electric mobility in the development department.

Mauriocio Rojas, Systems Engineer, inno2grid GmbH, GermanyMauricio Rojas, Engineer in Electronics, completed a MSc. in Renewable Energy in Oldenburg, Germany. After working in the topic of energy storage in hydrogen, he moved to the field of Solar Energy for about 4 years. Since 2013 he is Systems Engineer in inno2grid where his main task is the optimal integration of renewable energy sources into small scale smart grids. In total, Mauricio counts with more than 10 years experience in the fields of systems integration and business development.

Pierre Blanc, Chief Technology Officer, Leclanché S.A., SwitzerlandPierre Blanc, Swiss, born 1970, joined the Company in 2000. He is Chief Technology and Industrial Officer of Leclanché SA. His previous positions include Development Manager of primary cells and Head of the R&D department at Leclanché between 2004 and 2006. Prior to that, from 2000 to 2004, Mr. Blanc was Chemical Engineer at Leclanché where he was responsible for the development and manufacturing of private labelling battery cells of major international brands. More than 15 years in battery design and manufacturing. He holds a B.A. Moderatorship Chemistry from Trinity College Dublin.

Manuel Wehowski, Project Manager, Mahle Behr GmbH, GermanyDr. Manuel Wehowski studied mechanical engineering at the Ruhr-University in Bochum (Germany) from 1995 to 2001. Subsequently, he did his PhD at the chair of “Verfahrenstechnische Transportprozesse” in Bochum. Since 2007 Dr. Wehowski is working at MAHLE International GmbH (formerly Behr GmbH & Co. KG resp. MAHLE Behr GmbH & Co. KG). He is working as project manager on thermal management for passenger cars, especially with focus on new technologies as battery tempering using thermoelectrics.

Dan Vogler, CEO, Utilicell, USAAn audio, telephony & electronics ‘tinkeror’ since age 10, and further educated in the BSEE undergraduate program at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, Dan worked first and gained huge diverse experience with the University of California’s LANL Los Alamos National Laboratories, the world’s largest pure R&D facility. His tasks at LANL went from working on DOE power projects ranging from a Geothermal power plant in the Jemez Mountains of the Santa Fe National Forest, design and construction of satellite instruments for astrophysics and particle physics research, on to research into a Laser controlled Nuclear Fusion reaction to generate heat and thus steam power. Moving to Austin, Texas as a serial entrepreneur, Vogler has built several successful electronics companies, including Lintech, CHS, American Infoscience, 88net, The HDTV Group, and Falcon Green Energy,…. all to the point of profitability and in 4 out of 6 cases, on to a lucrative exit by acquisition. Vogler has recently invented a process for BIPV Solar Glass packaging called LAMI-Volt, a new process for making high quality Graphene from Carbon Dioxide called GGL or Gaseous Graphene Liberation and the GRID-Tronix architecture for smart grid storage, representing his latest efforts into the renewable energy business.Now as Chief Executive Officer [CEO] of lithium-ion battery company UtiliCell Energy Storage Systems, he has recently announced a scalable smart energy storage system for utilities, sized from 250 Kilowatt-Hours to 2-Megawatt-Hours in energy capacity, based on his GRID-Tronix storage architecture for smart grid storage.

Wouter De Nijs, Senior Research Engineer, Flanders’ Drive, BelgiumWouter De Nijs is an electromechanical engineer in the automotive sector who is passionate about software. He is currently working as a senior research engineer at Flanders’ DRIVE where he develops battery management software for fully electric vehicles in diverse research projects. Previously, he was working for Melexis as a micro-electromechanical (MEMS) design engineer. He graduated from the KU Leuven in 2006 with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree in the field of Mechatronics.
