AUTOMOBILE SUBROGATION ARBITRATOR CERTIFICATION USER GUIDE

1. Enter http://training.arbfile.org into your Web browser. This address will

take you to the Arbitrator Certification site homepage.

NOTE

We highly recommend adding this page/address to your browser “Favorites” at this time.

2. Read the Introduction located in the center of the Certification homepage.

3. After reading the Introduction, click “Login” (in the upper right hand corner or at the bottom of the screen).

4. You will now be on the Login page.

5. Enter the Username and Password given to you in your certification letter.

NOTE

If you registered for Special Arbitration Arbitrator Certification, use your Special Arbitration Username and Password here.

6. Click Login and you will return to the Certification Homepage. On the left side of the Homepage is a list of Courses.

NOTE

If you are registered in Special Arbitration Certification, this block will be titled My courses. Click on the All courses link and continue with Step 7 below.

7. Select the Automobile Subrogation Arbitration Certification link.

8. Select the Auto Forum Agreement and Rules Exam link.

9. You are now asked to verify you want to take the Auto Agreement and Rules exam. Click Yes.

10. You should now be on the Auto Forum Agreement and Rules examination page.

11. There are several user options on the left side of the exam page. These

options will be discussed when relevant.

NOTE

You have 60 days to change the password given to you by Arbitration Forums. Your Username must remain the same. The following provides instruction for changing your password.

12. Under the Administrative option is a link for changing your password.

13. Click the Change password . . . link and you will go to the change password page.

Do not change the Username.

14. At the Password: prompt, enter your current password. For now this should be the one sent to you by Arbitration Forums.

15. At the New Password: prompt, enter between 5 and 8 lower-case alphabetical and/or numerical characters that you want to use for your password in the future, i.e. aroyer84, bcd78, etc. Don’t forget this password! You will use it the next time you login to the certification site.

16. At the New Password (again): prompt, type the same password as entered in step 15 and click Change password and you will go to the Password Changed page.

17. At the Password has been changed, click on Continue and you will go to your Personal Profile page.

18. Click on the Auto Agreement link at the bottom of the Personal profile

page and you will return to the Auto Forum Agreement and Rules Exam page.

NOTE

If you are a Certified Special Arbitrator Auto Liability (CSAA), you need only to successfully complete the Auto Subrogation Forum Agreement and Rules Examination to become a Certified Auto Subrogation Arbitrator (CASA). If you are not a Certified Special Arbitrator Auto Liability (CSAA), do not attempt the examinations now. You should continue with Step 19 below to complete the enrollment process and become a Certified Auto Subrogation Arbitrator (CASA).

19. On the left side of the Auto Forum Agreement and Rules Exam page, you will find a box labeled My courses. Click on the All courses . . . link.

20. You should now be on the Course categories page. Select the

Automobile Subrogation Arbitration Certification link.

21. You have two choices under the Automobile Subrogation Arbitration Certification category. Select the Automobile Subrogation Claims and Hearings link.

22. You are now asked to verify you want to take the Auto Agreement and Rules exam. Click Yes.

23. You should now be on the Automobile Subrogation Claims and Hearings examination page.

24. On the left side of this page, you will find a user option box labeled Activities. Click on the Quizzes link.

25. This is your “report card,” where you can check your highest scores. Click

on the Auto Subro link at the bottom of Quizzes page to return to the exam page.

26. Click on Home at the bottom of the examination page and you will return to the Certification Site Homepage.

27. On the left side of the Certification Site homepage, you will find a box labeled My Courses.

28. The My Courses block now contains links to the Auto Forum Agreement and Rules Exam and the Automobile Subrogation Claims and Hearings. You are now enrolled in all of the examinations required to become a Certified Automobile Subrogation Arbitrator (CASA).

TIPS FOR COMPLETING THE CERTIFICATION EXAMINATIONS

1. Be sure to carefully read all of the instructions before attempting each examination.

2. Do not use all three attempts on an examination back to back. Take a

break, then come back and attempt the examination later. You do not have to complete the entire certification requirements at the same time.

3. We highly recommend completing the Sample Examination at the

beginning of each certification program. As stated, the Sample Examination gives you the opportunity to practice this online testing system.

4. Remember these exams are taken throughout the United States, so do

not apply any local jurisdictional law when selecting your answers.

5. Use the most current edition of the applicable Arbitration Agreement and Rules when completing a Forum Agreement and Rules Examination. Remember there are definitions of key words in the front of each Arbitration Agreement that apply to the specific forum. Many of the Agreement and Rules answers are based upon these definitions.

6. We deliberately do not give feedback on the correct/incorrect answers. It

is part of the permission agreement with our reference sources for the exams – Siegel’s Torts by Brian Siegel, published in 1998 by Emanuel Publishing Company and Multiple Choice Questions Workbook – AIC 36, 1st Edition, published in 2003 by Keir Education Resources. These references are in a question-answer format. If we provided you with the answers along with the questions, you would have an online version of these books, which we are not allowed to publish.

7. When completing the hearing simulation examinations, read only the

information provided. Do not “read between the lines” because of a similar case which you may have handled in your career. A contention without supporting evidence is not a fact.

8. Upon completion of reading the case material, such as the filing forms,

Contentions Sheets, and evidence descriptions, you will complete four multiple-choice questions. Select the answer option that is closest to your basis of finding, award, and weight of the evidence. The final question on your decision explanation has six options – three options are correct and add points to your score, while three options are incorrect and subtract points. Select the three most appropriate answers.
