Red Light Cameras Save Lives
According to a newly-release Status Report by the
U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety*:
•159 lives were saved in 2004-08 in the
14 biggest U.S. cities equipped with
red light cameras.
•676 people were killed by red light
running and injured and estimated
113,000 in 2009.
•815 would have been saved if cameras
had been operating during [2004-08] in
all cities with populations of more
than 200,000.
