2 Surveillance of the coastal railway in II Zone.On 21 January, railamy surveillance was extended to include the railroadin Qv.ng Ngai Province.

(3) On 15 February, a flight team (two aircraft and 18 per-sonncl) moved to Quang Ti-ni to provide direct support to the 25th Division.Tetm equipment includes ,n AN/TF<I-7 photographic ltboratory, giving thetcm a complete fiLm processing car.bility.

Although the nu.iber of rjilway incidents in II Zone increased in January,it remained below thc average for the last seven months of 1962. A detailedanalysis is being made tu determine the correlation between times and areas ofsurveillance and tiacc, locations, severity and types of incidents. Resultsof the analysis will b. included in the final rrport.

3. Findings.

a. VC incidents in Binh Dinh Province have declined in the last twomonths, but the specific contribution of Mohawk survcillancc to the declineis not clear,

b. There wcro more railway incidents in II Zone in January (8) thanin December (3), but less than the 1962 s-ven-month average (12).
