NUTRITION FACTS*1. Increasing scientific evidence of harmul effects of TFA on

health especially on the risk of coronary heart disease (CVD) TFA consumption is associated with a higher risk for CVD than the

consumption of saturated fatty acids

2. Lack of evidence for any beneficial effects on health

THEREFORE....Industrial TFA (I-TFA) were gradually reduced in the USAand Western Europe due to societal pressure and legislative measures!* STENDER et al., N Engl J Med, 2009

Significant drop out of I-TFA in products on the Austrian market

Results of the regularly market control action had shown that NO product contains more than 2 g/100 g I-TFA

No significant increase of saturated fatty acid through the reduction of I-TFA

The data show that the Austrian TFA Regulation is a story of sucess towards consumer protection

CONCLUSION
