2016 may have been a difficult year in many aspects - but if there isone thing that thrived tremendously, it was Australian-Austrian businessrelations. With Austrian exports to Australia up more than 30%, andAustralian exports to Austria increasing by a whooping 60%, we musttruly celebrate all the business women and men involved: a job welldone!

Still, I believe there is room to expand bilateral economic relations and invite everybody tohave a closer look at opportunities our respective markets. Our capital Vienna is not only one of the most livable places in the world, but Austria as awhole is a great place for Australian investors regardless of whether they are newcomersto the European Union or, due to the UK's hard BREXIT from the Union, will have to relocateexisting investments in Europe. What's our focus in 2017? Construction and building products, because Australians no longer want to continue livingin second grade homes. IT and technology, because Australia and Austria are a greatmatch in terms of technology, marketing and financing.
