• Australia is a stable, democratic, developed country with a highly skilled workforce and one of the wealthiest in the world, with the world's 12th-largest economy.
• Australia is the earth's sixth largest country by landmass and is the only nation to govern an entire continent.
• Neighbouring countries include Indonesia and Papua New Guinea to the north; the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu to the north-east; and New Zealand to the south-east.
The Australian dollar (AUD) is the official currency of the Commonwealth of Australia. It has been in use since February 14, 1966.

As of 2011, the Australian dollar is the 5th most traded currency in the world mostly because Australia has high interest rates and little government control on currency trading.
