Message from the CEO
It is exciting to lead the Australia Council in this time of change,as we build on the work of the last four decades and find new
ways to develop and support a vibrant arts sector in Australia. In July 2013, the Australia Council adopted one of themost significant changes in its history a new governinglegislation. This change will in time, enable us to respondmore flexibly to the needs of the arts sector. The reforms
will be implemented throughout 201415, including anew grant structure and an increase in the diversity andbreadth of peers engaged in grant assessment.
We were also delighted to see the reforms accompanied bya boost in funding for the sector we support. The increasedfunding has had an immediate and substantial impact acrossall art forms, and will continue to do so in the year ahead. It has increased the opportunities to recognise excellencethrough existing programs, new development grants, andstrategic initiatives at the national and international level.
As we implement these changes you can stay up to date byengaging with our social networks, subscribing to our monthlye-newsletter or getting in contact with Council staff. Our staffare committed to supporting artists and arts organisationsthroughout the grants process, and I greatly encourage you
to take advantage of their advice and assistance.Tony GrybowskiChief Executive Officer
