Mining

The mineral resources of Aurora are considered young and untapped. Copper and Gold are possibly among

the major minerals that can be f ound in its mountain areas. This is the reason why the of f ice of the Bureau of

Mines and Geo- Sciences is drenched with applications f or mining exploration by dif f erent mining

companies/corporations which almos t cover the whole Province of Aurora. There are at present twenty three

(23) applications under APSA covering a to tal area of 107,705 hectares and 1,329 blocks while 225,301

hectares and 2,781 blocks are applied f or explorat ion by 18 mining corpo rations /companies under EXPA (Table

34).

The inf lux of application f or mining explorat ion permits can be attributed to the enactment into law of R.A. No

1995. This Act provides major incentives to mining companies such as: cutt ing of timbers within their

explorat ion areas, enter private lands, and priority rights in the ut ilization o f water within the areas.
