Thank you for purchasing this air conditioner. This manual will provide you with information on howto operate, maintain, and troubleshoot your air conditioner. Following the instructions will ensure theproper function and extended lifespan of your unit.

Please pay attention to the following signs:

Failure to observe a warning may result in death. The appliance must beinstalled in accsrdance with national regulations.

Failure to observe a caution may result in injury or equipment damage.

Inappropriate installation maycause water leakage, electric shock, or fire.The warranty will be voided if the unit is notinstalled by professionals.lf abnormal situation arises (like burningsmell), turn off the power supply and callyour dealer for instructions to avoid electricshock, fire or injury.DO NOT let the indoor unit or the remotecontrol get wet. lt may cause electric shockor Trre.DO NOT insert fingers, rods or otherobjects into the air inlet or outlet. The chemicalsmay become layered with the unit andendanger those who are hypersensitive tochemicals.DO NOT let children play with the airconditioner.The air conditioner can be used by children aged8 years and older and people with reducedphysical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lackof experience and knowledge, if they have beengiven instruction on how to properly and safelyoperate the system.DO NOT operate the air conditioner in a wetroom (e.9. bathroom or laundry room). Thiscan cause electrical shock and cause theoroduct to deteriorate.

NOTE: For multi-split type air conditioners, one outdoor unit can be matched to different types ofindoor units. All of the pictures in this manual are for demonstration purposes only. your aiiconditioner may be slightly different, if similar in shape. The following pages introduce several kindsof indoor units that can be matched with the outdoor units.

Operating ConditionsUse the system under the following temperatures for safe and effective operation. lf the airconditioner is used under different conditions, it may malfunction or become less efficient.

FeaturesProtection of the air conditionerCompressor protection. The compressor cannot restart for 3 minutes

after it stoos.Anti-cold air (Cooling and heating modelsonly). The unit is designed not to blow cold air on

HEAT mode, when the indoor heat exchangeris in one of the following three situations andthe set temperature has not been reached.A) When heating has just started.B) During defrosting.C) Low temperature heating.. The indoor or outdoor fan stop running whendefrosting (Cooling and heating models only).

Defrosting (Cooling and heating models only)o Frost may be generated on the outdoor unit

during a heat cycle when outdoor temperatureis low and humidity is high resulting in lowerheating efficiency in the air conditioner.. Under these conditions, the air conditioner willstop heating operations and start defrostingautomatically.

. The time to defrost may vary from 4 to 1O

minutes, depending the outdoor temperatureand the amount of frost buildup on theoutdoor unit.

Auto-Restart (some models)In case of power failure, the system willimmediately stop. When power returns, tneOperation light on the indoor unit will flash. Torestart the unit, press the ON/OFF button on theremote control. lf the system has an auto restartfunction, the unit will restart with the same

White mist emerging from the indoor unit. A white mist may be generated due to a large

temperature difference between air inlet andair outlet on COOL mode in places with highrelative humidity.

. A white mist may be generated due to moisturecreated in the defrosting process when the airconditioner restarts in HEAT mode ooerationafter defrosting.

Noise coming from the air conditioner. You may hear a low hissing sound when the

compressor is running or has just stoppedrunning. This sound is the sound of therefrigerant flowing or coming to a stop.

. You may also hear a low "squeaking" soundwhen the compressor is running or has juststopped running. This is caused by temperaheat expansion and cold contraction of theplastic parts in the unit when the temperatureis changing.

. A noise may be heard due to the louverrestoring itself to its original position whenpower is first turned on.

Dust blowing out from the indoor unit.This is happens when the air conditioner nas norbeen used for a long time or during its first use.

Smell emitting from the indoor unit.This is caused by the indoor unit giving off smellspermeated from building materials, furniture,orsmoKe.

The air conditioner turns to FAN ONLYmode from COOL or HEAT (for cooling andheating models only) mode.

When the indoor temoerature reaches the settemperature setting, the compressor will stopautomatically, and the air conditioner turns toFAN only mode. The compressor will start againwhen the indoor temoerature rises on COOLmode or falls on HEAT mode to the set ooint.

Droplets of water may form on the surface ofthe indoor unit when cooling occurs in relativelyhigh humidity (defined as higher than 8O%).Adjust the horizontal louver to the maximum airoutlet position and select HIGH fan speed.

Heating mode (for cooling and heatingmodels only)The air conditioner draws in heat from theoutdoor unit and releases it via the indoor unitduring heating. When the outdoor temperaturefalls, heat drawn in by the air conditionerdecreases accordingly. At the same time, heatloading of the air conditioner increases due tolarger difference between indoor and outdoortemperature. lf a comfortable temperaturecannot be achieved with the air conditioneralone, it is recommended that you use asupplementary heating device.

Lightning or a car wireless telephone operatingnearby may cause the unit to malfunction.Disconnect the unit from its oower source andthen re-connect the unit with the oower sourceagain. Push the ON/OFF button on the remotecontroller to restart ooerations.

Energy Saving Tips

. DO NOT set the unit to excessive temperature levels.

. While cooling, close the curtains to avoid direct sunlight.

. Doors and windows should be keot closed to keeo cool or warm air in the room.

. DO NOT place objects near the air inlet and outlet of the unit.

. Set a timer and use the built-in SLEEP/ECONOMY mode if applicable.

. lf you don't plan to use the unit for a long time, remove the batteries from the remote control.

. Clean the air filter every two weeks.

. Adjust louvers properly and avoid direct airJlow.

Manual Operations And Maintenance

Operation mode selection

While two or more indoor units aresimultaneously operating, make sure the modesdo not conflict with each other. The heat modeclaims precedence over all other modes. lf theunit intially started to operate in HEAT mode, theother units can operate in HEAT mode only. Forexample: lf the unit intially started operates underCOOL (or FAN) mode, the other units can operareunder any mode except HEAT. lf one of the unitselects HEAT mode, the other operating units willstop operation and diplay " --" (f or units withdisplay window only) or the auto and operationindication light will flash rapidly, the defrostindication light will turn off, and the timerindication light will remain on (for units withouta display window). Alternatively, the defrost andalarm indication light (if applicable)wil light up,or the operation indication light will flash rapidly,and the timer indication light will turn off ( forthe floor and standing type)

Maintenance

lf you plan to leave the unit idle for a long time,perform the following tasks:1. Clean the indoor unit and air filter.2. Select FAN ONLY mode and let the indoor fan

run for a time to dry the inside of the unrt.3. Disconnect the power supply and remove the

battery from the remote control.4. Check the components of the outdoor unlt

periodically. Contact a local dealer or acustomer service centre if the unit requiresservicing.

NOTE: Before you clean the air conditioner, besure to switch off the unit and disconnect thepower supply plug.

Optimal operation

To achieve optimal performance, please note thefollowing:o Adjust the direction of the air flow so that it is

not blowing directly on people.. Adjust the temperature to achieve the highest

possible level of comfort. Do not adiust theunit to excessive temperature levels.

. Close doors and windows in COOL mode orHEAT mode.

. Use the TIMER ON button on the remotecontroller to select a time you want to startyour air conditioner.

o Do not place any object near the air inlet or airoutlet, as the efficiency of the air conditionermay be reduced and the air conditioner mavstop running.

. Clean the air filter periodically, otherwisecooling or heating per formance may bereduced.

o Do not operate unit with horizontal louvre lnclosed position.

Suggestion:For units that feature an electric heater,when the outside ambient temperature isbelow 0'C (32"F), it is strongly recommendedthat you to keep the machine plugged in soas to guarantee smooth operation.

When the air conditioner is to be usedagain:

. Use a dry cloth to wipe off the dustaccumulated on the rear air intake grille in orderto avoid the dust being dispersed from theindoor unit.

. Check that the wiring is not broken off ordisconnected.

. Check that the air filter is installed.

. Check if the air outlet or inlet is blocked afterthe air conditioner has not been used for a lonqTtme.

Troubleshooting

CAUTIONS

lf one of the following conditions occurs, switch off the power supply immediately and contactyour dealer for further assistance.

. The operation light continues to flash rapidly after the unit has been restarted.. The remote control buttons do not work.

. The unit continually trips fuses or circuit breakers.

. A foreign object or water enters the air conditioner.

. Other abnormal situations.

Common Problems

The following symptoms are not a malfunction and in most situations will not require repairs.

The unit cannot be restarted within three minutes of beingturned off.cooling and Heating Models: lf the operation light and PRE-DEF (pre-heating/Defrost) indicators are lit up, the outdoor temperature is too cold and the unit'santi-cold wind is activated in order to def rost the unit.In Cooling-only Models: lf the "Fan Only" indicator is lit up, the outdoortemperature is too cold and the unit's anti-freeze protection is activated inorder to defrost the unitThe unit changes its setting to prevent frost from forming on the unit. Oncethe temperature increases, the unit will start operating again.The set temperature has been reached, at which point the unit turns off thecompressor. The unit will resume operating when the temperature fluctuates

In humid regions, a large temperature difference between the room's air andthe conditioned air can cause white mist.

When the unit restarts in HEAT mode after defrosting, white mist may beemitted due to moisture generated from the defrosting process.

A squeaking sound is heard when the system is OFF or in COOL mode. Thenoise is also heard when the drain pump (optional) is in operation.A squeaking sound may occur after running the unit in HEAT mode due toexpansion and contraction of the units plastic parts.

A low hissing sound may occur during operation. This is normal and is causedby refrigerant gas flowing through both the indoor and outdoor units.A low hissing sound may be heard when the system starts, has just stoppedrunning or is defrosting. This noise is normal and is caused bythe refrigerantgas stopping or changing direction.
