Sales Successes - Food Service Upstate New York

Big Congratulations to JIM ROBINSON for landing the fry oil business at 14-unit Tully’s. On June 15, they signed a contact with Bunge for the second half of 2020 to utilize their 50 lb. VREAM 415 shortening. The annualized volume for this business is 850,000 lbs , the single largest hit we've ever had with oil in the Upstate New York. Not only is this a new sku stocked at SYSCO Syracuse, the product also falls under the Bunge's premium category, and earns Affinity Group full commission.

Jim worked on this opportunity for well over a year. With support from Bunge's Sarah Urquhart he locked in pricing and convinced Tully’s that now is the time to book! In 2021, the oil market has been extremely volatile. As a point of reference, Tully's is paying over $20 per cube more than when we started shipping them some test stores earlier in the year. Jim has always been a valued consultant to Tully’s - and now he’s their valued oil consultant. Great Job Jim!!!

BARB LANCE scored an incredible hit at SUNY Binghamton on Kellogg’s Incogmeato products. When this Sodexo-managed college account opens this fall, they'll be using 250 cases per week of Chick'n Tenders, 750 cases per year of both Chorizo Crumbles and Ground Bulk Incogmeato. This hit for Chick'n Tenders alone is valued at $750,000 in incremental business! In addition these amazing volumes, at press time, SUNY was considering our Incogmeato burger to replace Beyond Meat's product.

Congratulation to MARK SEWARD on a huge Brakebush conversion at 14-unit Bill Grays. During the Covid pandemic Mark spent time re-establishing old relationships with a new intensity. One product at a time, he used his relationship with the operator and a new contact at distribution to create an opportunity for chicken with Brakebush. This was a sale based on quality, not price, as we were not the low cost provider. These product are now open coded at the distributor level for sales to other brand new sales opportunities. Over 21,000 cases annualized: Chicken Breast Tenderloins - 280 cases per week, Boneless Wings - 70 cases per week and Breaded Fillets - 60 cases per week.

LINDSEY JOOSTEN went after three of his old huge Melfry customers -- Petey's in Rye, Clambake in Maine and Ted’s Fried Clams in Chapley -- and was able to convert them over the Bunge's frying oil. Lindsey worked closely with each of these accounts, doing fry tests and showing the quality of the oil, as well as securing deviations through Bunge. The result was securing business for 4 truckloads of new fry oil business for US Foods. These sales are exceptional, in light of the extremely volatile market. Nice Job Lindsey!

MARK BOTSCH had multiple big hits with the fastest growing restaurant chain in New England, 46-unit The 110 Grill. Mark has developed a great relationship with this customer, and they are now working with him to offer quarterly LTO’s. Knowing Gluten Free is a huge account priority, Mark placed Blount Extreme Clam Chowder as a new LTO concept for first quarter of 2021. For the second quarter, he sold them 900 cases of Smithfield Foods Curly's fully cooked ribs by successfully bringing value of a fully cooked pork product at a time when pork prices are sky high and raw materials are extremely hard to source.

VirginiaLUKE HEWETT saved 8,000 annual cases at SYSCO Hampton Roads with Red Gold's Arrezzio Marinara Sauce. Furmano's was awarded Catman business, but when Luke cut the products with SYSCO, ours was superior and he was able to retain the business. 10

Western PAAt 5-unit chain Stack'Burger Bar, DAN DEMASE converted Mushroom Appetizer business from McCain’s to Ajinomoto Molly's Kitchen label Battered Whole Mushroom. Dan secured the business with a competitive cutting. This conversion will add 650 cases of new business annually through US Foods Greensburg.

Performance Food Service Pittsburgh was not purchasing Bunge oils. During a recent meeting with purchasing, MIKE DOYLE uncovered service issues with their supplier and was able to secure a new placement with Bunge Canola Salad Oil for 42,000 pounds.

JOE LIPTOCK had some very nice wins over these last few months: At UniPro distributor, Novick Corporation Joe has shipped 800 cases of the DOLE's new Mango 4 oz Fruit

Bowls. They're on pace to order close to 2000 cases for the calendar year. The key to success wassampling and continued follow-up to help Novick place the new sku on school bids.

is

After pursuing the business for more than 1-1/2 years between consistentcustomer contact, Joe worked closely with our Regional Sales Manager to secureKing & Prince's Lobster Sensations for 190 pounds per week for the a LobsterMac & Cheese application at Taylor Farms Swedesboro. The finished productbeing shipped into several Ahold locations. Persistence and patience pays!

In March, Joe visited with Green House Café, located in Reading, PA. It's vegan/vegetarian restaurant that was not using a foodservice distributor, and onlysourcing from local retail outlets. Joe turned them onto to starting a relationshipwith Russo Foods, and with a lot of follow-up, he landed 5 new skus at theaccount: HP Hood's Café Creations (3 skus), Rich Products Vegan AmericanCheese, and Kellogg's Morningstar Farms Vegan Chik’n Tenders.

Basic American and Affinity Group has been targeting placements for new 3 items that have not yet been commercialized for sale at all Food Service accounts. One sku is a “Tot Mix”, that would allow an operator to make a custom tot to add to their menu, with little labor. KRISTEN MCILVAINE was able to work through all of the COVID restrictions and secure a virtual meeting with Chickie’s and Pete’s, a Philadelphia icon with 18 units, in the early spring. Our Basic American contact joined her virtually while Kristen met with the chain's Director of Culinary at their Marlton, NJ headquarters. She came prepared with 3 flavors of tots pre-made and ready to drop in the fryer: Basic Potato Tot, Pickle Tot and a Buffalo Tot. Chickie's and Pete's Culinary Director was impressed with the ease of use and the flavor profile of all three and was immediately building his own recipe in his head! The beginnings of the “Cajun Crawfish Tot” started that day and has since been added to the LTO “Summer of Shellfish” menu line up that runs until Labor Day. He may add them to the menu permanently in another format, he loved the pickle idea -- something Philly people love, besides their cheese steak is a good pickle! This was the first sales success for the Tot Mix in the Northeast, with an estimated volume of 300 cases through Performance Foods Swedesboro. To date, they have been a successful addition and are pacing well with the other LTO items! Let’s hope for a “Pete’s Pickle Tot” in the fall!

ARMAND BOUTIN (New England) Armand competed in the recent Basic American's K12 recipe contest and won with his entry: Pasta Shaker Salad with Turkey Ham and Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing. It's a portable meal solution consisting of BAF's lentil penne pasta, mixed lettuce, assorted vegetables, turkey ham and Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing. The meal contributes 1/2 cup legumes as a vegetable and 2 meat/meat alternative.

Sales Successes - Food ServiceMetro NYPHIL CORACI made a great contact with the head Chef at Stout Hospitality Group NYC, and they'll be using the new King & Prince Mrs. Friday's 10 oz Beer Battered Cod made with Sam Adams Boston Lager for their fish & chips menu offering. Annual volume is 780 cases. This item was not stocked at US Food Service, so Phil was able to force the slot into distribution, opening up more opportunity with additional customers. Stout Hospitality owns a dozen owner-operated restaurant locations, and this first big success will hopefully smooth the pathway to more opportunities. Nice Job Phil!

ALEX PALMA scored a nice win with Jordan Lobster Farm Restaurant and Market in Island Park. Alex lead with our Cavendish 3/8” Fine Coat fries and won his cutting against Sysco Label (McCain) based on our quality and pricing. This year-round account is a Fish Market, Clam Bar, Indoor Restaurant and Backyard Bar, and they go through 4,000 cases annually, between dine-in and carryout. This sale was a 'win all the way around', as UniPro Distributor Driscoll Foods earned this French fry business for the first time.

We had another great Cavendish win when KATHLEEN MCCROSSON converted Gosman's Topside Bar on Long Island. Kathleen sold in PFG's Roma Invisacoat 3/8" Fry for 360 cases - perfect timing for the start of a very busy summer season!
