Last newsletter we high lighted our out-going Board members. Now I would like to take notice of our incoming Board member! Back in March, the nominating committee of the Board of Directors sat down and took a look at our current Board of Directors. It is our goal to have fair representation geographically, by industry, and by company size. Based on that information we identified certain representations that we need to fill. With our newest Board member, your Board of Directors has 15 members, which meets our By-Laws, but we are currently looking to fill one more seat. Look for that information to follow.

The Board of Directors and I are pleased to introduce our newest Board member - Eric Olson. If you have been doing business in the Twin Cities North, or have been active in various groups across the area, you have most likely met Eric. If not, be sure to introduce yourself at the next Twin Cities North Chamber event!

Business Advocacy “Things change.” Byzantine Poet “What I would tell an organization facing the future is this; Remember, what got you here won’t get you there.” Peter Drukker. The reason Peter Drukker made that profound comment is because he understood, as the ancient Poet understood, that all things change. As people engaged in business, we realize that changes in our business practices are at times necessary. Such normally requires a review of what you want to change and then a plan to do so. And, your Chamber is no exception. During the course of their monthly meetings, the Public Affairs Committee determined that a review of our Legislative Breakfast program was in order. The primary goal of such was to increase attendance by making it easier to attend, more responsive to the expectations of our membership and provide better access to political decision makers. The primary reason for change was to insure the breakfast program continued to evolve as an effect tool of timely information, vital networking and business advocacy.

Thus, the following changes have been implemented:

New Location: Shoreview Bar and Grill located on the east side of Hwy 65 just north of 694. Specific Time: 7:30 am. New Dates: The third Friday of each month starting with September 17th.

In addition, several categories of table sponsorships are now being offered as are season passes, both of which are designed to appeal to your marketing needs and those ever important budgets. You are encouraged to call the Chamber office for full details.

The Public Affairs Committee sincerely hopes that you, the members of Twin Cities North Chamber, will find these changes not only agreeable but helpful, as you continue your business journey “…from here to there.” Mike Simpson Premier Commercial Properties For The Public Affairs Committee

Fridley Business Council July 21, 2010 Perkins, Fridley

Featured Speaker: Jeannine Schlottman, MultiCare Associates

Roseville Business Council July 20, 2010

Courtyard by Marriott, Roseville

Featured Speaker: Roseville Mayor Craig Klausing

The Business Councils are reoccurring monthly events that allows the members to focus in on a specific community. Once a month Chamber members will meet with an invited guest from the city. Potential guests will be City Mayors, City Administrators, Police Chief,

School Superintendent, Convention and Visitors Bureau representative. This is not a committee. There is no obligation to attend every month, nor do you have to do business or live in the city to attend the business council. They are just meetings that focus on the specific communities.

Thank you to last years Legislative Series Host!
