REFLECTION All day from that deep well of life within Himself has

He drawn healing for the press of folk, restoring

strength, forgiving sin, quieting frenzy, and comforting

distress. Shadows of evening fall, yet wildly still they

throng Him, touch Him, clutch His garment’s hem, fall

down and clasp His feet, cry on Him, till the Master,

spent, slips from the midst of them and climbs the

mountain for a cup of peace, taking a sheer and rugged

track untrod save by a poor lost sheep with thorn-torn

fleece that follows on and hears Him talk with God.

As Lac Ste. Anne Pilgrimage site is closed for the public due to

Covid-19, we decided to get Holy Water from the lake and distribute to

those who want Holy Water for their blessings. Archbishop Richard

Smith has already blessed the lake. Please bring your own bottles and

containers for filling. Holy Water is available at Sacred Heart Church of

the First Peoples Parish.

• We respectfully ask if you are over 75 years old and if you have any symptoms of sickness or have low immunity, please remain at home for now

• If necessary, we can make a special visit to your home. In this way, we show our love to our neighbour and to ourselves

Seven Sacred Teachings

The Eagle - LOVE

The First Peoples of Turtle Island (North America) were to

always carry out actions of LOVE. To fell true love is to know

the Creator. One's first love is to be the Great Spirit. You

express love for the Great Spirit by loving yourself and how

the Great Spirit made you. Only then can you truly love others.

Children are to beloved children are gifts from the Great

Spirit.

The Buffalo - RESPECT

First Nations people were told to always RESPECT all life

on Mother Earth. To show real respect is to share and give of

yourself for the benefit of all life. Respect the Elders from all

races of people who up-hold the sacred teachings of the Great

Spirit.

The Bear - COURAGE

To have COURAGE is to have the mental and moral strength

to listen to the heart. It takes courage to do what is morally

right. First Nations people were told to be proud of who they

are and never deny the way of life the Great Spirit gave them.

The Sabe (Sasquatch) - HONESTY

To be HONEST with yourself is to live in the spirit of how

you were created. Never lie or gossip about each other. The

more honest you are the bigger you become as a person.

The Beaver -WISDOM

To live in WISDOM is to know that the Great Spirit gave

everyone special gifts. Showing wisdom is using your gifts to

build a peaceful and healthy family and community. When we

know and use our , we become an instrument of the Great

Spirit, helping to bring peace to the world.

The Wolf - HUMILITY

Always carry out actions in HUMILITY. Think of your

family, your fellow human beings and your community

before you think of yourself. To know humility is to

understand that you are not more or less important than

anyone else. Being humble is surrendering to the Great

Spirit, who has created and who directs all life.

The Turtle - TRUTH

Always seek the TRUTH. The truth lies in spirit and in life.

Prayer was to be done every-day at sunrise to give thanks to

the Great Spirit for the gift of life. Each of the gifts and

ceremonies were given by the Great Spirit for the gift of life.

Each of the gifts and ceremonies were given by the were

given by the Great Spirit to the Original human beings to

help them find the truth and the true meaning of their life on

Earth. Living the truth is living the Seven Sacred Teachings,

living from the heart.

Prayers for this week (From Truth and Reconciliation Commission)

UNDER CHILD WELFARE: 1- “Providing adequate resources to enable Aboriginal communities and child-welfare organizations to keep

Aboriginal families together where it is safe to do so, and to keep children in culturally appropriate

environments, regardless of where they reside.”

We pray for all Indigenous children to grow in their families, immersed in the wisdom

of their culture, and with all the resources they need for good development.

2- “We call upon the federal government, in collaboration with the provinces and territories, to prepare and

publish annual reports on the number of Aboriginal children (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) who are in

care, compared with non-Aboriginal children, as well as the reasons for apprehension, the total spending

on preventive and care services by child-welfare agencies, and the effectiveness of various interventions.”

We pray for the authorities with the responsibility of the care of the children, so that

they offer a fair treatment, from the cultural roots of the children, and in equality.

UNDER EDUCATION: 3- “We call upon the federal government to develop with Aboriginal groups a joint strategy to eliminate

educational and employment gaps between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Canadians.”

We pray for an appropriate strategy and steps are taken in order to eliminate

educational and employment gaps between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Canadians.

4- “We call upon the federal government to eliminate the discrepancy in federal education funding for First

Nations children being educated on reserves and those First Nations children being educated off

reserves.”

We pray for the elimination of discrepancies in federal education funding for First

Nations children on reserves and those First Nations children off reserves, in order that

all can have the same opportunities.

UNDER JUSTICE: 5- “We call upon the federal, provincial, and territorial governments to review and amend their respective

statutes of limitations to ensure that they conform to the principle that governments and other entities

cannot rely on limitation defences to defend legal actions of historical abuse brought by Aboriginal

people”.

We pray for the independence of the justice, in order that everyone can be treated

without prejudice, especially Aboriginal people that have live so much contemp.

6- “We call upon the Federation of Law Societies of Canada to ensure that lawyers receive appropriate

cultural competency training, which includes the history and legacy of residential schools, the United

Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Treaties and Aboriginal rights, Indigenous law,

and Aboriginal– Crown relations. This will require skills-based training in intercultural competency, conflict

resolution, human rights, and anti-racism.”

We pray for an appropriate training of lawyers in all the legislation concerning the

protection of Aboriginal Peoples, as well as in intercultural competency, conflict

resolution, human rights, and anti-racism.

From September 1 to October 4, the Christian family celebrates the good gift of creation. During

the Season of Creation, we unite as one family in Christ, celebrating the bonds we share with each

other and with “every living creature on Earth.” (Genesis 9:10)

Our vocation to protect and nurture life relates to the sustainability of ecological, economic, social

and political systems. A just balance between these aspects of life must be maintained for the

health of the earth and all creatures.

According to this wisdom the Law of Moses included provisions for the Sabbath, on the seventh

day of each week, God’s people were free from the need to produce or consume. The rest was

extended to animals, and the earth itself, honoring the Creator by allowing creation to rest.

Following the seventh, seventh (49th) year God’s people were to dedicate a year to this ecological,

social and economic restorative justice. A Jubilee for the Earth.

Jubilee for the Earth

Climate change is a result of the intersection of greed, inequality and destruction of God’s earth.

Jubilee is a time to renounce overconsumption and economic systems based on constant economic

growth at the cost of the Earth and those who are poor. Jubilee is a time when those who have

consumed the most must make restitution to those who have suffered the most. Jubilee is a time

of rest for the land from constant exploitation, to restore ecosystems and people.

The concept of Jubilee is rooted in the holy wisdom that there must exist a just and sustainable

balance between social, economic and ecological realities. When one variable is exploited to

maximize growth of another, the whole system will eventually suffer. When one part of the earth

community is stressed, every part is affected. In 2020, the novel coronavirus pandemic

demonstrated this reality on a global scale. While the experience of living with the COVID-19

outbreak points back to this need to maintain justice, the lessons that we learn may point us

towards the need for a Jubilee and motivate us to restore balance to the very systems that sustain

life.

“And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year and you shall proclaim liberty throughout the land to all

its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you: you shall return, every one of you, to your property and

every one of you to your family.” (Leviticus 25:10, NRSV)

READINGS FOR 19TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

When Elijah reached Horeb, the mountain of God, he came to a cave, and spent the night

there. Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Go out and stand on the mountain

before the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”

Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in

pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but

the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the

fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence.

When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood at the entrance

of the cave.

Gospel Reading: (Mathew 14: 22-33)

Immediately after feeding the crowd with the five loaves and two fish, Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray.

When evening came, he was there alone, but by this time the boat, battered by the waves, was far from the land, for the wind was against them.

And early in the morning Jesus came walking toward them on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.”

Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” Jesus said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came toward Jesus. But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”

Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “You of little faith,
