Greetings! I am very excited to join the All Saints community as Director of Technology and Instruction. It is my goal to facilitate the instructional use of STEM technologies across all subject areas within each of the three school divisions. In addition to teacher support, I will work directly with 5th, 8th and high school students. Together we will explore the use of geospatial technologies (GIS, GPS, and Remote Sensing techniques using satellite imagery) and other web-based tools such as interactive mapping, object-oriented programming, Google applications, blogging, etc. Students will practice inquiry methods in a project-based learning environment, and have an opportunity to apply grade-specific and cross-curricular concepts and skills. Should you have questions, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to working with our All Saints students, parents, and faculty. It will certainly be an exciting year! Dr. Penny Carpenter, [email protected]

Six benches were recently purchased with the proceeds of the Fourth Grade’s Lemonade Sale during lunch one day last spring. The students raised over $400, which far exceeded their plan to buy just one bench for the playground. The benches are placed in the Johnson Amphitheater and can be used for a variety of reasons, including special student lunches and extra seating for Grandparents Day. Mrs. Tiffany Smith, fourth grade math teacher, led the students as they researched and planned their sale.

All Saints continues to be committed to providing a caring and safe environment. Criminal history background checks are universally accepted as a fundamental step in safety assurance. All school employees participate in a criminal history background check. Likewise, all school volunteers will need to agree to this background check. The background screening application can be completed online via the school website: (https://allsaints.quickapp). The screening is provided at no cost to the participant and must be completed each year. The Headmaster is the only person besides the participant to know the results of the testing. The procedure is submitted securely online and takes only a matter of moments to complete. The volunteer does not have to be present for the screening and only will be notified if a problem is presented by the screening results. One of the major strengths of All Saints is of the tremendous parent and grandparent involvement, a vital part of the success of student learning. Please fill out the permission form so that we can continue to count on you as a major participant in “The All Saints Way!”

Parents able to complete school forms online beginning August 18

School requires all volunteers, staff to submit to criminal background checks

Parents wishing to volunteer as a classroom field trip driver must pass criminal background checks. In addition, the driver must have on file in the office copies of a valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance. The office staff can make copies for you of this information. Current state law requires all children under the age of eight and under 4’9” to be in a booster seat when riding in an automobile. Seat belts must always be used. We greatly appreciate your outstanding cooperation, and your personal information will be treated with confidentiality.

Volunteer driversmust prove driver’s license, car insurance, background check

Safety is essential! Many new drop off, pick-up and parking rules are now in place. Remember cell phones are not to be used while in parking lots while on campus. The high school parking lot is on the north side of the high school. The drop off / pick-up for the high school is on the south side of the high school. To help ensure pedestrian children’s safety, drivers must stay in their cars unless the car is in a parking space. No “double parking” is allowed. Double parking greatly increases the potential of a child

being hit by a car. No vehicle may be left idling without the driver present; the vehicle can become a potential hazard should it shift into gear, overheat, catch on fire, etc. All persons delivering or picking up children children are asked to follow the parking lot rules and courtesies in order to protect the lives of our All Saints Patriots. Please refer to the “Parent and Student Handbook” at the start of school to learn appropriate “pick-up” spots for age groups. Families with multiple age groups will need to decide on the best central “pick-up” spot.

Ensure safety in parking lots

It is nearing student form completion time, and as returning parents remember, most forms can now be completed online! There are office forms that all parents are required to complete and/or update each year. These forms include: contact and emergency information, field trip permission, media permission and vital health and medical release information. Parents who wish to avoid completing by hand the multiple forms required by the office each school year may complete this information online. For parents who choose not to complete this information online, forms will be available for updating by computer in the administration offices on Tuesday, August

18, between 1-4 p.m.,and on Thursday, August 20, between 9 a.m. and Noon. An email will be sent to all families the week of August 10 which will contain directions regarding how to complete the forms online. The process is simple, and quick to complete. Questions? Please contact Paige McKay in the school office at [email protected] if you have questions. Remember, on August 18 and August 20, a computer in the school office will be available and staff can help walk you

through this process if you need help! P.S. Please remember the deadline for returning ALL forms to the school office, whether online or in paper form, is 4:30 p.m. August 25. Students will not be allowed to attend class on August 26 until all forms are completed and returned to the school office. In addition, contact information will not be included in the printed student directory on families who have not updated their information by August 25.

Each year, All Saints parents have access to the newest “Parent and Student Handbook,” which contains important information about the fundamentals of school / student / parent procedures. The handbook describes attendance, tardiness, student dress, birthdays, discipline, and homework. Families new to All Saints will receive a printed copy of the “Parent and Student Handbook” at New Parent Orientation. All parents will have access to the 2015-2016 handbook on the All Saints website at www.allsaintsschool.org.

2015-16 handbook coming soon
