Songs such as Reminiscing, Help is on its Way, Cool Change and Home on a Monday provided a soundtrack to the 70s and helped the Little River Band become the first Australian band to conquer the coveted US market. Today LRB remains one of the most successful Australian bands of all time.• To mark his remarkable achievements, Glenn performed exclusive 45th anniversary concerts in Sydney and Melbourne in July 2010, reinventing a few of his classics along the way.• The unmistakable voice behind over 25 million album sales worldwide• A veteran of the Australian music industry, singer/songwriter Glenn Shorrock has been twice inducted to the ARIA Hall of Fame• Perfect Father’s Day stock

DEAD AND DIVINEANTIMACYSHOCK / PUNK

• Dead and Divine’s latest aural assault, Antimacy, finds the band one-upping themselves and adding to the body of evidence that proves them as one of the prized acts in an over-crowded and seemingly stagnant genre of heavy music.• Antimacy, dropping August 5, is unquestionably the pinnacle of their progress to date, taking the staple sounds of their previous output and incorporating a wider variety of outside influence – from the raw aggression of ‘80s hardcore to the melancholic melodies of ‘90s alternative.• While debut full-length The Fanciful (2008) and follower The Machines We Are (2009) both benefited from killer production, Antimacy, with Jordan Valeriote at the helm, beautifully balances each member’s input, elevating the record beyond the sum of its parts.

NOFX“HARDCORE 10””FAT WRECK / PUNK

• NOFX’s latest release is a lot of things, none of which you’d normally expect (unless you keep up with internet message boards, twitter, and music news outlets, in which case you’ve likely read rumors about this release for a couple years now and know exactly what to expect).• 10” vinyl only, no CD release, no digital, with the band paying homage to obscure hardcore bands they idolised in the early days for the band in the 80s. As in 1980s.• What further info do we have? Not a whole lot, except that the band has sold something like 100,000 across their 2 hardcore 7” singles, and over 5 million albums across their catalogue.• If you stock vinyl, this one is a must.

FRENZAL RHOMBSMOKO AT THE PET FOOD FACTORYSHOCK / PUNK

• Australian punk rock institution FRENZAL RHOMB have finally finished their new album SMOKO AT THE PET FOOD FACTORY. Recorded in Fort Collins Colorado, with Descendents’ Bill Stevenson standing watch as producer!• Lyrics to the first song BIRD ATTACK are insultingly simple, and were aired at recent shows: ‘Magpie, seagull, ibis. Eyes drawn, ice cream, helmet’. And the pet food themed indignity continues for 16 tracks, including one near the end about world famous bass player and alleged substance abuser Karl Alvarez. Nestled comfortably in-between are songs about cockroaches, goths, racists, rapists and heaps and heaps of ciggies.• The first official single Knuckleheads is already getting triple j high rotation airplay and the live favourite Bird Attack is also getting plenty of requests. Marketing and promotion for the new album will be extensive, everything from national outdoor street posters, to street press, mobile billboards and outline campaigns are in effect. Publicity wise media is lining up to speak to the long running act, daily newspapers, radio and the band will act as ‘guest editors’ in the upcoming issue of Blunt magazine.• To launch ‘Smoko’ the band will hit the road in early September with US act Teenage Bottlerocket as special guests.

1. Well I don’t know the recipe, but when I was in Melbourne with the Weakerthans we went to a Thai restaurant (I can’t remember what it’s called!) in some cool neighbourhood (I can’t remember this either!). I think it was south-east of downtown - if anyone knows where I’m talking about please let me know - because they had this crab and asparagus soup that was the most orgasmic thing ever. I’ve actually tried to figure out what restaurant it was so I could get a bucket of it sent up to Canada. No luck so far. Camaaaaaan. 2. At the corner of Granville and Davie in downtown Vancouver is a place called Numero Uno Pizza. They sell pizza by the slice until the wee hours of the night, and I stop in almost every time we are in the city. They have a beef and blue cheese pizza that is truly one of a kind. The beef has a toast like texture to it, as if it’s been broiled slightly, so that just the upper most tips are crispy. The “blue cheese” is more of a sweet creamy sauce that is swirled from the center outward, and the crust is glazed with garlic and toasted sesame seeds. Oh my god it is so frigging good. 3. One wit whiz. A Philly Cheesesteak sandwich is something entirely different in Philadelphia than it is anywhere else. There are rules to the ordering process too. All you are allowed to say is a two or three word phrase. If you get it wrong, they will actually send you to the back of the line! The first word is how many you want - one. Second word is whether or not you want onions. If you do - wit. If not - witout. The third word is only there if you want cheese - which you obviously do, and you say which kind you would like. The most standard is actually cheese whiz - so you say whiz. All together now: “ONE WIT WHIZ”. And these guys are so fast that you’re barely at the “z” of whiz and you have your change and sandwich in your hand. But it’s not fast food, no way! The line up is around the block all day long and they are constantly making each frenzied sandwich fresh and hot! Go ahead, try it at home! Oh yeah, don’t forget the “freshly roasted” roast beef! Ok I could go on forever but I’ll stop there! Although I should quickly mention that Heinz actually gave me my own line of “Rusty’s Choice” ketchup in Canada. I really love food a lot.
