Hello and welcome to the August eNewsletter!

As we start to move towards autumn, we are busy celebrating our 60th magazine issue this month here in Yorkshire. Find about the new season collections by reading on!

We also look back at our fabulous celebratory event, which we held on August 15th in Hertfordshire along with many of the famous faces associated with Rowan.

Finally, we bring you your exclusive free pattern, Affogato by Vibe Ulrik. This stunning piece in the super soft Alpaca Merino DK is knitted in the round to wonderful effect. With simple stich detail this accessory can be layered up over any outfit for a little bit of extra warmth as the months turn cooler.

NEW SEASON - AW 2016/17Rowan Knitting & Crochet Magazine 60

Rowan celebrates its 60th magazine with a collection of 43 designs, which represent everything true to the brand over the past 38 years. Key names from its illustrious history combine to create two powerful design stories; Tempest and Felted Tweed.

Shot in windswept Anglesey, Tempest exudes a dramatic quality throughout. Rugged, textural cables feature alongside intricate, geometric colourwork to result in a stunning overall effect. Flattering tunics are photographed alongside richly detailed cabled pieces and cosy cardigans.

Meanwhile, Felted Tweed perfectly showcases the quality of the Felted Tweed and Felted Tweed Aran colour palettes. Eye-catching, detailed and colourful cowls star alongside cabled sweaters and statement pieces featuring embroidery embellishments.

A modern tweed-effect, soft yarn which is a joy to knit. Wool and hemp create “breathable” knitted fabrics, which are cool to wear in warm weather, yet warm in colder temperatures. Hemp fibre is resistant to stretching so does not distort with use and naturally softens with wear. Hemp Tweed Chunky will be available in eight natural shades.

Design support includes The Hemp Tweed Collection, an iconic collection of six unisex designs by Martin Storey. Signature cabling and intricate, delicate colourwork

both surface in pieces, which range from sweaters to a versatile ladies cardigan and scarf.

Further to this, three free unisex designs will be made available exclusively on knitrowan.com. Again showcasing the stitch definition of the yarn perfectly, the online designs will be two cardigans and a staple sweater.

Celebrations EarlierThis MonthEarlier this month, we were delighted to host a celebratory event in honour of our 60th magazine issue. Amongst many famous faces in attendance were Brandon Mably, Martin Storey, Lisa Richardson, Sarah Hatton, Dee Hardwicke and Stuart Hillard – not forgetting the hugely iconic Kaffe Fassett, who held a talk on his inspiration over the years and also hosted a fashion show of his key designs through the years.

We hope everyone who attended had as much fun as we did! Thanks go to the beautiful Gardens of the Rose for providing the perfect setting for the day!
