Congratulations to all of our members who entered the Ellene Ashcraft Membership Medley. It’s been another exciting year with more that 150 artists participating. I’m continually impressed with the caliber of Blue Line Artists.

I wanted to give you a sneak peak into some upcoming creations that are just ahead.

With special thanks to California State University of Sacramento for their generous donations of computers. This will allow Blue Line to provide future programming that includes digital creations. You can expect to hear more about this program and the cutting edge workshops we’ll offer to youth. As well, we’ll begin a series of Blue Line Arts on the road as we partner with the Roseville Utility Exploration Center for projects where art meets earth.

I’d like to introduce you to a few new people who have joined Blue Line Arts. RIGHT IMAGE DETAIL:

CURATOR’S CORNER

3RD SATURDAY SPONSORS

Art competitions can be a very useful tool in building a good resume. They can also serve as a way to get your work in front of people that have influence and ways to help you with your art career. The thing you have to remember, it’s up to their dissension to let your work intoa show or not.

With each exhibit there are all sorts of things that go through their minds, it is nothing personal. Sometimes, it is a matter of them liking spaghetti and you liking fried fish.

Who is your favorite artist and why? Edward Hopper for his simple, silent and moody realism.

How did you get your start? I decided watercolor would be my choice for a fun and interesting retirement hobby.

What are you most proud of? That I stuck with it.

What has been your biggest challenge as an artist? Learning how to correct mistakes.

What do you see happening in the next 5 years? More shows and more behind-the-scenes involvement.

What is a hidden talent of yours? I can talk like Donald Duck.

WELCOME JENNIFER ADONA

Page 21: August 2014 Issue

Blue Line Arts Magazine • bluelinearts.org • 21

Jennifer Adona is very excited to be back in the art world as the new Membership and Development Coordinator at Blue Line Arts.

In the past, she was a performing and visual art student and put that on hold to join the work force, in the financial services industry. Her employment in a large corporate bank, as well as a local credit union, gave her the opportunity to learn diverse sales techniques, excellent customer service skills and member retention, all with a smile on her face.

In addition to always staying positive, Jennifer strives to be an active community member by volunteering and encouraging others to do so. Some of her causes are keeping art in local schools by volunteering as an art docent through the school district and promoting

eco-friendly movement by participating/ volunteering with local children’s clothes, gear and toy swaps which keep those items out of landfills. With her experiences and sunny attitude, Jennifer looks forward to her role with Blue Line Arts.

Jennifer and her husband Richard, a financial adviser at Merrill Edge, moved from San Jose over a decade ago and never looked back. Jennifer is a mom-on-the-go who keeps busy with 4 children, juggling play dates, sports, stroller runs, and of course exposing them to the arts regularly. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys photography, DIY crafts, jogging, shopping and relaxing with the rare spa day. She can’t wait to meet all the members and become an integral part of the thriving art community.
