Celebrating the Red, White & Blue!
Dorothy Siegel loves music!Almost any kind of music. Sheloves to sing and used to be quitethe dancer. She and herhusband, Harold, went dancing 4or 5 nights a week. They dancedat St. Vincent’s, St. Pete’s, theGrove and the Malta Ballroom. They also went to West View’sDanceland, when the big bandswere playing. If there was music, they were dancing!
Harold said that Dorothy was avery good cook. Her specialtieswere Polish dishes, chicken soupwith homemade dumplings andgreat spaghetti sauce. Theywould have holiday dinners attheir house and there was alwaysplenty of good food.
Dorothy grew up inLawrenceville and went toSchenley High School. Sheworked at AT&T for 18 years.Dorothy and Harold were marriedin 1952. (They eloped to amagistrate in Pittsburgh.) They
were remarried months later atHoly Family with family present. They bought a house in Sheridanin 1965 and raised their two boys,Dave and Dan, there. They have6 grandchildren (5 boys, 1 girl)and one great-granddaughter.Her grandchildren are her prideand joy. She spent as much timeas possible with them while theywere growing up. Instead oftraveling on vacation, she wouldhave rather stayed at home withthe kids.
Dorothy and Harold belongedto the VB Italian Club, the ISDAand Ascension Church in Ingram. They also bowled on a couples’league. They have very goodfriends and enjoyed lots of goodtimes with them.
Dorothy is always happy andwe are glad that she is a residentat Broadmore.
