In today’s Gospel Jesus encourages us to look beyond what

is possible and share even the little we may have. The five

loaves and two fishes were the only food available in the

desert and, according to St. John’s Gospel, that belonged to

a boy in the crowd. Jesus used that small quantity from a

small boy and fed five thousand people. This means that one

concerned person, like one grain of wheat, is important.

However, little may be our talents and gifts, if we offer them

to Jesus, He can perform miracles with them. Let us pray in

the words of Amado Nervo, a Mexican poet: “I am only a

spark, make me a fire; I am only a string, make me a lyre; I

am only an ant-hill, make me a mountain; I am only a drop,

make me a fountain; I am only a feather, make me a wing.”

En el Evangelio de Hoy, Jesús nos anima a ver más allá de

lo que es posible y compartir incluso lo poco que podamos

tener. Los 5 panes y dos peces era la única comida

disponible en el desierto y, según al evangelio de San Juan

pertenecía a un niño pequeño entre la multitud. Jesús uso

esa pequeña cantidad de un niño y alimentó a cinco mil

personas. Esto significa, que una persona preocupada como

un grano de trigo, es importante. Sin embargo, nuestro

talentos y dones pueden ser pequeños, si se los ofrecemos a

Jesús, El puede hacer milagros con ellos. Oremos en las

palabras de Amado Nervo, un Poeta Mexicano que dijo yo

soy sólo una chispa hazme fuego, sólo soy una cuerda,

hazme una lira, solo soy una colina de hormigas, hazme una

montaña; yo soy solo una gota, hazme una fuente; yo soy

solo una pluma, hazme una ala”.

Due to the current spike in cases with Covid19, and

for the safety of our families, children, catechists,

and elderly parishioners, we will be having Faith

Formation sessions online via Zoom for the

foreseeable future.

Faith Formation Registration

Registration is now online! Please go to

www.sttafw.org for more details. If you need

assistance in registering, please contact Paul

Crnkovich, Director of Formation.

Volunteer Opportunities

• Catechist (teaching the faith to families, adults,

youth, and children)

• Aide (helping in the classroom/event, set-

up/breakdown, assisting the catechist)

• Intercessor (praying for those in Faith

Formation by name)

• Admin (helping with records and our database)

• Requirements: Meet with the Director of Faith

Formation, Meet Diocesan Safe Environment

requirements, and have a heart to serve and

spread the Gospel!

The Saint Francis de Sales Institute is coming to

St. Thomas!

The Institute confers Basic Catechist Certification

for those who want to pass on the faith, is 9 months

in duration (Level 1), and classes will be once-per-

month. SFDS will be beginning in September, with

priority registration to Saint Thomas parishioners

who want to join the Faith Formation team. If you

are interested, please contact Paul Crnkovich,

Director of Faith Formation for more details!

Family Catechesis (K-8th Grade)

We are continuing with Family of Faith this year

from September—May. Family Catechesis

Orientation will be held in August online via Zoom.

Registration is $100/family (regardless of size), and

is in addition to Sacramental Preparation (Penance

& Eucharist).

Penance & Eucharist Preparation (2nd Grade)

Penance & Eucharist prep will begin again in

January, ending on the feast of Corpus Christi. If

your baptized child is nearing preparation for

Penance & Eucharist, then your family must be

registered in Family Catechesis beginning this

September. Please contact Paul Crnkovich for

more information. Registration is $75/child.

Confirmation Preparation (14-17 yrs)

If your baptized child is 14-17 and needs the

Sacrament of Confirmation, preparation will begin

in January and is 6 months. An inquiry meeting is

required before January. Please contact Paul

Crnkovich for more information. Registration is

$50/teen.

Youth Ministry (6th-12th Grade)

Youth Ministry will be held Wednesday nights,

6:30pm – 8:30pm, beginning in late August.

RCIA (Adults or Children 7-17)

If you are interested in journeying into the Catholic

faith from another faith, are an adult in need of

baptism, or have a child over 7 who is in need of

baptism, please contact the Director of Faith

Formation for more information.
