C Thereafter, the Vice-Chancellor Lt. Gen. (Rete!.) Zaoneer Uddin Shahpresented his opening remarks:-
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated all the members to attend the very importantmeeting of the UniversityCourt, AligarhMuslimUniversity,Aligarhas the deliberations& deciSions made in the meeting were very important. The Vice-Chancellordrew theattention on the achievements during his period. large number of vacancies have beenfilled through General Selection Committees ina fair and transparent manner. StracheyHall of the University has been totally renovated. Renovationof the UniversityMosqueis goingon. Half portion was completed and remainingwillbe completed by Sir Syed DayCelebrations. Kennedy Hall is being air-conditioned and the renovation work is inprogress. He appreciated J_he efforts of the Alumni for their contribution andcooperation for the University. He mentioned that the work at Tar BangIaRoad forfour lanes passages is goingon and Hostel for Girls comprisingfifteen hundred Beds &Ambedkar Hall Annexe willalso be completed very Soon.The newlycreated Faculty ofInternational Studies has been established with eight new Departments functioningwith five languages.
He further assured the house that the Minority Character case of A.M.U.will befought legallyand won.He also clarified that the allegations madeagainst himregardingRs.120 crore of the University Funds were baseless. He further informed that theUniversity has already explained to the AGUP,Allahabad all the points of the AuditReport and most of them have been settled.
The Vice-Chancellor quoted the "AMU Act 26-A" which says "A person shall bedisqualified for being chosen as, and for being, a member of any of the authorities ofthe University if he is not a citizen of Indian. It clearly means that onlyForeigners aredebarred from being members of the Authorities of the University. The Visitor(President of India) during his address of the Vice-Chancellor'smeeting had made itvery clear that the Universities must include NRIs in the deciSionmakingbodies whoare contributing significantly towards the Almamater. He urged the house to considerthem for the membershipof the UniversityCourt.
Further, the Vice-Chancellorstated in the house that the arson incidence whichoccurred on 23rd April 2016 was a black day in the University history. He assured thehouse that such activities will not be allowed to be repeated in the University. Thestudents responsible for this incident have been rusticated for five years.
The repair of CCTVSurveillance System in the University Campusis almost completeand has also been installed at every important place, includingHallsof Residences.
H. said that he has full faith in his teem as well as Teaching and Non-TeachingCommunityand laid emphasis for bringingProjects by the TeachingCommunityfor theimprovementof AligarhMuslimUniversity.
The members of the house appreciated the achievements as pointed out by theVice-Chancellor.

Thereafter, the Vice-Chancellor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah presented hisopening remarks as given below:-
The Vice-Chancellor apprised the members about the present status of the caseof Minority Character of A.M.U. in the Supreme Court and the efforts beingmade by the University to fight the legal battle. Further, he stressed thesecular character of A.M.U.from its inception.
The Vice-Chancellor apprised the members about his visit at Indira GandhiNational Tribal University, Amarkantak (MP)where he was invited to participatein the conference and to address the Valedictory Session: On this occasion, hehad an opportunity to examine the draft of the New Education Policy (NEP)which is being planned to be introduced. He said in his speech that in the NewEducation Policy emphasis should be given on patriotism rather thanultranationalism which is detrimental to the composite culture of the Country.The valedictory speech has been uploaded on the AMUwebsite. He appreciatedthe inclusion of the Yoga in the Curriculum but he pointed out Yoga should nothave religious symbolism.
The Vice-Chancellor informed the house that the Ur;iversity intended to hold theAMU Students' Elections in accordance with •Aligarh Muslim UniversityStudents' Union(Conduct of Election)" amended Regulations 2012.
He informed the members about the progress made by the University inNano-Technology. The University is leading in recycling the waste water throughNano-Technology which is a revolutionary attempt in reproducing energy andfresh water.

He explained in detail the appointments & promotions of Teachers throughdirect recruitment as well as under (CAS) viz. 249 Professors, 142 AssociateProfessors and 460 Assistant Professors, in the last four years which has beendone successfully in a fair and transparent manner.
He clarifi_ed that the allegations made against him regarding misuse of Rs.130crores is totally false, and without any basis. He further informed that all theobjections raised by the AGUP,Allahabad have been settled.
-, He invited the members. to visit the newly constructed places i.e. Strachey Hallof the University, University Mosque, Newly Constructive Swimming Pools nearAftab Hall and in the Women's College, New Girls Hostel in the Medical Colonybeing made for a number of 2010 Girls. He appreciated the efforts of theAlumni in general and Mr. Nadeem Tarin in particular for generous contributionsto the University. He also appreciated the generous ,contribution made by thepeople, especially the teachers of the University, fbr the restoration of theUniversity Mosque.
He also informed the house that the University is going to eliminate the Courseswhich are not necessary and start New Courses which are vital for theemployment. JI
The members of the house appreciated the efforts explained by the Vice-Chancellor.Thereafter, the Agenda Item was taken up for consideration of the Court.
Item No.2: Election of six members of the University Court to serve as memberson the Executive Coun~il
Prof. Tajuddin was appointed as Election Officer and Prof. Mohammad Gulrez and Prof.M.M. Sufyan Beg were appointed as Tellers to assist Prof. Tajuddin in conducting theelection of six members of the University Court to serve as members on the ExecutiveCouncilunder Statute 16 (1) (ix) of the Statutes of University.
On the basis of the election conducted by the Election Officer, the following membersof the Court were declared elected unopposed to the Executive Council under Statute16 (1) (ix) of the Statutes of the University, for a period of three years, withimmediate effect:-
