THOMAS TRUAXOne of the most imaginative characters on the pop music fringe, Thomas Truax (pronounced troo-aks) travels the world performing with his “band” of bizarre self-made Tim Burtonesque instruments including a motorized drum machine made of bike wheels called ‘Mother Superior’ and a pimped-up Gramophone called ‘The Hornicator’, as well as his venerable resonator guitar ‘Hank’.Truax crafts rich, poetically evocative songs about insects, trees, technology and various reasons ‘Why Dogs Howl at The Moon’.

FINDLAY NAPIERFindlay Napier is one of the most highly-regarded performers and creative forces on the Scottish music scene.He made his name touring and recording with multi-award winning traditional Scottish folk band Back of the Moon. SCOTT MATTHEWSScott’s debut album, Passing Stranger, contained an eclectic mix of styles and feaured the world renowned tabla player, Sukvinder Singh Namdari, who had played alongside such artists as Ry Cooder and Ravi Shankar and it wasn’t long before Scott was getting national airplay from the likes of Janice Long, Mark Radcliffe and Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2.

TEDDY THOMPSONTeddy Thompson is an acclaimed singer-songwriter with a career that has consistently garnered critical praise. NPR proclaims that he’s “the musical equivalent of an arrow to the heart,” while The New York Times calls his work “beautifully finessed.” Teddy released his first, self titled album in 2000. Teddy’s newest record with US singer Kelly Jones was released April 1 2016.

ADMIRAL FALLOW Formed in 2007 by a group of Glasgow-based music student mates, Admiral Fallow had a busy 2015 with 2 album tours in the spring, summer festivals as diverse as T in the Park, Latitude and The Iona Village Hall Festival (curated by Idlewild with whom they co-headlined) a short run of European dates and a 10 date club tour in the UK. In January 2016. There were 2 very special SOLD OUT Celtic Connection shows.

BIG COUNTRYBig Country return with The Seer 30th Anniversary Tour, the third studio album released in 1986. The album featured very traditional Scottish musical settings, reminiscent of the band’s debut album The Crossing (1983). Big Country are steeped in a stunning catalogue of proud and stirring hit songs such as Fields of Fire, Chance and In A Big Country and the band continue to look beyond the next horizon in 2016.

GUNGUN have announced a headline UK tour taking place in October. This will be their first full tour reunited with original guitarist Alex Dickson.The band announced Alex was returning, playing his comeback show at Glasgow’s Stag & Dagger Festival, which the Scottish Sun called “Effortless class”, while the Sunday Mail called the show “breath-taking” and “a real highlight”.

THE SUNSHINE UNDERGROUNDIt’s been nine years since The Sunshine Underground’s explosive 2006 debut Raise The Alarm - a dance-punk record described by The Guardian as “every bit as jerkily compulsive as The Rapture’s House of Jealous Lovers” - surfed the new rave wave into the UK’s wider consciousness. Two sold out tours resulted in a cult following.

THE SAW DOCTORSThe Saw Doctors is a group of songwriting musicians from the West of Ireland, hell-bent on celebrating, observing, recording and sometimes poking fun at their own locality, accent and idiomatic use of language whilst dressing their songs up in their favourite sounds and styles from their years of musical fandom.



BUZZCOCKS 40Buzzcocks have been thrilling audiences for over thirty years. Once called ‘the Beatles of punk’, their music blends high-octane guitar, bass and drum power with heartrending personal statements of love won and lost or dismay at the modern world to create a unique catalogue of unforgettable and immortal music – music they continue to deliver to fans old and new around the world with undiminished passion and energy. They’re still doing it, better than anyone.

SUNSET SONSSunset Sons came into being when Rory, Pete, Jed and Rob encountered each other whilst pursuing their love of surfing in the sleepy French beach town of Hossegor. Drummer Jed came across frontman Rory hammering out cover versions (which incredibly took in everything from QoTSA to D12) on a bar piano, in-between stints pot-washing in the kitchen. That bar, ‘Le Surfing’, happened to be owned by Australian bassist Pete’s cousin, and lent its name to Sunset Sons’ self-funded and released debut EP.

JAH WOBBLEJah Wobble is best known for his postpunk bass work, dub experiments and those collaborations with John Lydon back in the days of Public Image Ltd however the bass legend has an extensive back catalogue with a genuine passion for Eastern and Global music in the mix. Over the past 37 years Jah Wobble has worked with a diverse range music genres and fans can expect to hear material from his back catalogue mixed in with material from his latest studio album Everything is Nothing.

KELVIN +SPECIAL GUESTSKelvin have burst onto the scene since their first sellout appearance in February 2015. Their anthemic hard-hitting indie rock is winning over fans at an exciting pace from all across the UK. Most definitely.But the Nazareth story isn’t just another from-rags-to-unheard-of-riches tale of making it in rock‘n’roll. Nazareth are a Scottish rock band that had several hard rock hits, as well as scoring with the Felice and Boudleaux Bryant-penned ballad Love Hurts, in the middle of the 1970s.

Mixing high energy grooves, minimalist tendencies and unrelenting stamina, these virtuosic musicians create edgy pulsating sounds reminiscent of Steve Reich and Mike Oldfield with a hint of Balkan folk thrown in. OSCILLON RESPONSEBY MARK LYKEN Composer and filmmaker Mark Lyken interprets the forefather of Electronic Art, Ben F Laposky’s pioneering Oscillon Electronic Abstractions. Working in collaboration with Sanford Museum, Iowa this Cryptic commission for Sonica 2015 merges Lyken’s sonic responses and visualisations with Laposky’s groundbreaking 1950s art works.

KING KING Having scored three radio hit singles on Planet Rock with the songs Crazy, Hurricane, and most recently, Rush Hour, King King received a nomination for Best New Band at the 2015 Classic Rock Awards. King King followed up with an UK arena tour supporting Thunder that highlighted at a packed concert at London’s Wembley Arena, and in the process, won them over a raft of new fans.

Step back in time during our True North Scratch Night on 8 September as we present comedy from the past, and again on 19 October as we re-imagine a visit by the King’s Players to Aberdeen in 1601. True North Scratch Night What or where is True North? Is it a place, a state of mind or both? Join us for a night of new scripts inspired by the far northern reaches of the imagination. Tonight we’re heading back to 1601 to re-imagine a visit of the King’s Players to Aberdeen in that year. We’ll present the documented evidence, raise questions on how and where the Players would have performed, as well as explore the relevance of their visit today. Along the way we’ll perform extracts of Twelfth Night, one of the possible Shakespeare plays staged by the Players during their historic visit. PLEASE NOTE: the box office at the Music Hall is now closed for it’s transformation. WHERE IS IT?You will find The Lemon Tree right behind Marischal College on West North Street – just in case you’re not sure, here’s a map:

By bus: there is a bus stop right outside and we’re just round the corner from Union St, King St and Broad St so lots of busesBy car: try the car parks at Frederick St, Marischall College and Gallowgate.

HOW MUCH?We’ve printed the whole price of ticket in the brochure, this includes the booking fee (the only extra you’ll have to pay for is postage, but why not print your own at home?) – there could well be discounts for students, children, over 60s or APA Friends – just ask or check online.

DO I SIT OR STAND?A bit of both – we try and create the right atmosphere for each gig, some will have seats, some won’t – we’ve tried to list it where we can here.

WHAT DO THE TIMES MEAN?If it says ‘doors’ then that’s when the doors open and you get inside for a drink. If it says ‘start’ that’s when the show starts. Some shows have support acts, we can’t always confirm this until nearer the time and ‘start’ can mean the start of the support act, not the main act

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE?All ages are welcome, but under 16s must be accompanied by an adult, and under 18s can’t be near the bars.
