AE2S HIRES 10 SUMMER INTERNS FOR 2013

Sanford Health is hosting a free weight-loss information session from 4−5:30 p.m. (MST) Wednesday, July 17 at the Ra-mada Grand Dakota Lodge, 532 15th St. W., Dickinson. The event will be held in the Legends Ballroom.

A weight-loss surgeon from the Bismarck region of Sanford Health will review the basic concepts of obesity, provide an overview of weight-loss surgery options and discuss patient requirements needed to be eligible for surgery.

Sanford Health in Bismarck is a nationally accredited Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Center (MBSAQIP) and has earned Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Blue Distinction Centers designation for Bariatric Surgery. Please call Sanford Health at (800) 932-8758, ext. 5300 to register or visit bismarck.sanfordhealth.org/infosession for more information.

The North Dakota High School Activities Association requires annual sports physicals for all athletes participating in school-sanctioned sports. Athletes must have their physicals completed before the first day of practice for their sports. With the first practices for fall high school sports starting as early as Monday, Aug. 5, it’s time for athletes to complete their sports physicals.

Sanford Health Dickinson Clinic, 938 Second Ave. W., offers convenient same-day appointments for sports physicals. Patients can schedule an appointment by calling the clinic at (701) 456-6000 or visiting dickinson.sanfordhealth.org. The clinic is open 7:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.–noon Saturday. To help streamline their sports physi-cal appointments, athletes can review and complete necessary forms for sports physicals in advance online at dickinson.sanfordhealth.org/sportsphysical.

AE2S (Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc.) has hired 10 student interns in the firm’s offices throughout North Dakota. The new hires continue a tradition at AE2S of offering students the chance to practice their trades and learn new skills in a supportive environment.

Each intern is experiencing firsthand how AE2S is helping clients throughout the state overcome many water related challenges.

Two interns will be based in AE2S’ Dickinson, ND office:

Sean Garry, RPR Intern, originally from Forest Lake, MN. Garry is providing updates on progress and quality control of various projects, and observing and verifying work. He is pursuing a Civil Engineering degree from NDSU.

Isaiah Marschner, Surveying Intern, originally from South Heart, ND. Marschner is assisting with surveying work and other tasks. Marschner attends Association Free Lutheran Bible School in Minneapolis, MN and plans to attend NDSU in two years.

AE2S (Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc.) has received an international award that recognizes outstanding work with Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. The firm accepted the Special Achievement in GIS award at the 2013 Environmental Sciences Research Institute (ESRI) International User Conference in San Diego, CA on July 10, 2013.

Recipients of the Special Achievement in GIS award are selected by ESRI from thousands of organizations worldwide. GIS combines computer hardware, software, data, and the talents of professionals to collect, manage, and analyze geo-graphic information.

“Our work on the North Dakota Western Area Water Supply Project played a significant role in earning this award, and we look forward to continuing to provide innovative GIS solutions for our clients,” said Roger E. Grimsley, PLS, AE2S Geomatics Manager. “We work with a number of municipalities and regional water systems in the heart of oil country in western North Dakota, and we leverage GIS to help the region quickly respond to rapid growth while ensuring that future needs are also considered.”

The cutting-edge technology of GIS has helped meet the visual and informational needs of land owners, engineers, finan-cial analysts, planners, surveyors, and other project team members in western North Dakota as they work on high de-mand and fast-paced projects. The web-based and mobile capabilities of GIS have provided the ability to paint a live, interactive picture.

“Rapid growth causes static data to become obsolete quickly,” said Lucas Rengstorf, AE2S’ GIS Coordinator. “The use of ArcGIS Online and ArcServer provides a real-time solution to distribute changes immediately, enabling all project team members to access the same maps and data whether they are in the office or in the field.”

GIS provides clients with a living tool that enables them to continually adapt and plan for changing conditions, as well as easily access and edit information about their infrastructure – saving them time and money.

AE2S RECEIVES SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT IN GIS AWARD

Sanford Health Dickinson Clinic continues to grow to meet the needs of the region, as it welcomes Marc Ricks, MD, a board-certified pediatrician. As a pediatrician, Dr. Ricks provides care for children of all ages – from newborns to teenagers.

Dr. Ricks earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, and he completed a residency in general pediatrics at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland. He is board certified by

the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Ricks joins a comprehensive health care team at Sanford Health Dickinson Clinic that already features two pediatricians.

Patients can request an appointment with Dr. Ricks by calling (701) 456-6166. For more information on Sanford Health Dickinson Clinic, visit dickinson.sanfordhealth.org.
