Auditions for the musical comedy “The Addams Family” will be held at the Center for the Arts at 6:30 PM, Sunday,
August 2nd and 6:30 PM, Monday, August 3rd. All auditions are open to the public; no one is pre-cast.
Please prepare a song, of which it should highlight your vocal range. Bring written music in your key for accompanist,
as well as resume and headshot. Accompanist provided, and acappella singing is discouraged. Callbacks will be held
Tuesday, August 3rd. The production staff will hand specific times out. This will consist of cold readings from the script
and working with music from the show.
“The Addams Family” contains feature roles for 5 men and 4 women, ages 16 and up, and 1 boy, age 8-16, as well
as an ensemble of men and women, ages 14 and up. Performances are October 16th – November 1st. “The Addams
Family” is directed by Renee Robinson with music direction by Stephen Burnette.
In this spookily funny musical based on the classic TV show, Wednesday Addams has grown up and fallen in love.
Everything will change for the Addams Family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal”
boyfriend and his parents.
CASTING CHARACTERS:
Gomez Addams: Male, age 40-60 – a man in his prime, of Spanish descent with a wild Iberian passion. Takes great
pride in being an Addams and revels in all that that means. He struggles with having to keep his daughter’s secret
from his wife, whom he adores more than death. Requires great comedic timing and baritone to high G.
Morticia Addams: Female, age 30-45 – attractive, ageless, holds the balance of power in the family; often seems
like the only emotionally mature member of the clan. Feels her husband is hiding something from her and will use any
tactic to lure the secret out. Calls for a sexy, dry wit. Lower mature womanly sound and some high treble.
Uncle Fester: Male, age 40-59 – narrator of the piece, has a hugely energetic, joyous childlike presence – totally
incorrigible. A vaudevillian-style comedian with tenor vocals and a couple of high notes.
Wednesday Adams: Female, age 16-25 – Strikingly similar to Morticia but is experiencing a bit of a personality
crisis. Experiences the youthful drama that comes with first love –Lucas can actually put a smile on her face. Strong
belter with range to a high E.
Grandma: Female, age 102 – feisty, fun, adorably dangerous. Surprisingly resourceful and sprightly. Comedic
actress with strong character vocals. Mezzo in treble clef.
Pugsley Addams: Male, age 8-16 – charming, funny, husky boy who loves being tortured by his sister. He wants to
ensure he won’t lose his sister to her new boyfriend so he takes matters into his own hands. Strong high vocals.

Lurch: Male, age 35 and up – the Addams’ butler who knows all. Very tall, a man of very few words, often spoken at
half speed. Most of what he utters is in long, expressive groans, some tinged with irony or exasperation. His
movement is always very slow. Character actor with bass, carry a low G?
Mal Beinecke: Male, age 45-50 – father to Lucas. A stuffy man who must be obeyed, exasperated with his rhyming
wife. At one time was a follower of The Grateful Dead but lost that side of himself. Always looking out for his family.
Midrange bari-tenor.
Alice Beinecke: Female, age 40-45 – mother to Lucas. Quirky, devoted to her family, so she puts aside her own
desires. At the Addams Family dinner party, drinks a potion that causes her to let her hair down and speak her mind.
Legit voice up to G#.
Lucas Beinecke: Male, 18-25 – fell in love with Wednesday and plans to marry her. A writer, classic codependent,feels good when everybody’s happy. Experiences the pain and drama of young love and struggles with the
differences between his family and the Addams’s. Broadway show voice, nice upper range.
The Ancestors: Male and female ensemble singer/dancers of all ethnicities who are smart performers and have a
fun, quirky sensibility. Dancing knowledge a plus.
