INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing the MotodyneME2 supercharger system for the 5 valve4.2L . We have gone to great length toengineer this system to be a true bolt-onsystem. Please read the entire instructionmanual thoroughly before proceeding. Ifthere is any part of the installationprocedure that you are not comfortablewith, please have a professionalmechanic install the system. This systemhas an average install time of 8hrs.

PLEASE NOTE:• The photos used in this manual

were taken during the installation ona 2001 S8 and a 97 a8. There willbe a special “NOTE” listed whenthere is a variation in the installationprocedure.

• New Motodyne supplied parts willbe underlined in this manual.

PRE-INSTALLATION STEPS

Prior to installing the Motodyne ME2supercharger system there are a few stepsthat are recommended to make theinstallation as safe and easy as possible.

• Make sure that the engine iscompletely cool.

• The car should not have beenstarted for at least 2 hours tominimize any residual fuel pressure. This will reduce the fuel leakage thatoccurs while removing the fuelinjector rail.

• Remove the negative battery cablefrom the battery terminal before andduring the installation procedure.

• Please save all parts and fastenersyou remove from the car duringinstallation. The system has beenengineered so that the car may bereturned to its stock configuration ifso desired.

INSTALLATION

1) Disconnect the negative battery terminalin the trunk of you’re A8/S8.

2) Remove all plastic engine covers.

3) Remove ECU and TCM (transmissioncontrol module). (See picture 1-3)

Remove the drip rail cover from thepassenger side of the enginecompartment to expose the ECMEngine Control Module and TCMtransmission control module.

This plastic tubeis plugged into the intake tube and retainedwith a clip.First, remove the o-ring from the exposedend. Next, remove the retaining clip fromthe intake tube and pull out the plastic tuberevealing another o-ring. Put this o-ring ontothe PCV adapter and install it back into theintake tube with the retaining clip. The othero-ring will be used in a later step. (Seepicture 21A)

21) Disconnect (2) rubber hoses from therear of the intake manifold. One hose islow on the driver’s side rear of themanifold (See picture 21). The brakebooster hose is on the top rear of themanifold (See picture 22)

37) Carefully line up the fuel rail with thetops of the (8) injectors. It is veryimportant that all (8) cups on the fuel railare lined up with the injectors. Makesure to position electrical connectors outwards for harness attachment. .Misalignment can cause the o-ring tobe pinched and cut. A fuel leak willresult. Push down on the fuel rail until itis fully engaged with the injectors.

38) Position (4) 2” long spacers between thefuel rail tabs and the bosses on themanifold. Line up with the top of the fuelrail and secure them into place using (4)M6X70 hex head cap screws andwashers. (See picture 49) The bolts willgo through the support, fuel rail tabs, and the spacer and screw into themanifold.

39) Plug the (8) injector electricalconnectors back in, as well as thethrottle body electrical connector, intakeair temp. Sensor and the left sidesolenoid electrical connector.

STARTING THE CAR

• First turn the key to the on positionto verify that the “check engine” lightcomes on. In the rare instance thatthere is no “check engine” lightpresent, do not attempt to start thecar. Call Motodyne if this occurs.

• When starting the car for the firsttime, you should have anotherperson looking under the hood forfuel leaks or any other unforeseenproblems.

• As a precaution, the observershould have a fire extinguishernearby.

• Never touch the accelerator pedalbefore or during cranking theengine.

MAINTAINENCE• USE ONLY SUPER UNLEADED

FUEL (Minimum octane 92)• Race fuel (100+octane) should be

used on track days.• The Lysholm supercharger is

internally lubricated with syntheticlubricant. The Supercharger oil levelshould be checked every 10,000miles. To check the oil level, simplyremove the oil plug on the front ofthe SC unit. The oil should be just atthe bottom of the oil fillhole.

USE ONLY MOTODYNE/LYSHOLM LUBRICANT WHENADDING OIL.

• OTHER OILS WILL DAMAGE THEUNIT AND VOID THE WARRANTY.

• SEE MOTODYNE. COM FORPROPER WEIGHT OIL

• Change your engine oil every 3000miles.

• Regularly inspect the fasteners fortightness.

• Periodically inspect the serpentinebelt for wear.

• MPT recommends using a sparkplug one(1) heat range colder thanstock in geographic areas with veryhigh temperatures, or when the carwill be driven on the track ( Astested in Arizona).
