The past years have seen the booming of Jazz in Cambodia. The audience and the press being unanimous regarding the continuously growing level of the invited artists. Time has then come to see bigger and to develop a greater offer. Therefore, we are delighted to offer you the first edition of the Audi International Jazz Festival of Phnom Penh.

During four days, you will have the pleasure to see, and above all, to hear renowned artists from Europe especially invited for this first edition.

Cambodia is a great country of culture, giving generously its smile and its hospitality, curious in its approach to the other.

Being living here for more than three years, I have found a population innately fond of the world of arts, and especially music. Since I have arrived here, I have seen the emergence of numerous initiatives of cultural development, either from the government side, foreign representations or from the local civil society. Cambodia is on the verge of experiencing the resurrection of its artistic Golden Age of the 60s, which was close to being completely annihilated by the dark period of the Khmers Rouges.

With this new initiative, we are trying to make a contribution to the cultural reconstruction of the country, and to bring back its capacity of musical laboratory that made the reputation of Cambodia. I take the opportunity to pay tribute to the organizers of the Classical Music International Festival who, with their 12th edition this year, have largely proved the veracity of their initiative.

Our ambition, on the occasion of the upcoming four concerts, is to increase the international standing of the country and to reinforce Phnom Penh’s power of attraction.

This is the reason why the city of Phnom Penh, already the decision-making and economic centre of the country, is part and parcel of the festival, even in the logo.

Thanks to the support of Audi Cambodia, known for its involvment in cultural events worldwide, we are able to invite among the best artists of the European musical scene.

Carried by this project of opening to the world, the Audi International Jazz festival Phnom Penh will see to bring to light the city on the international stage; indeed, with internationally appraised stars, the press can only point to the right direction.

Given its geography and its history, Cambodia possesses a real ability to open to rhythms, melodies and cultures of the world, and we wish to make this force endure.

For this first edition, we already have great expectations. From Christian Brenner Trio to Martin Jacobsen and Giovanni Mirabassi Trio, the audience can only be dazzled by such music beauty.

In a word, a great journey in an armchair.

The opportunity offered to Audi Cambodia to become the active partner of the first International Jazz Festival of Phnom Penh stands in line with Audi’s 50 years involvement in Cultural Arts.

The desire to foster and support culture originated in 1962, when employees initiated the founding of the Audi Philharmonic Wind Orchestra. The cultural program Audi ArtExperience now includes various priorities, from the program’s own formats like the Audi Summer Concerts and the Audi Youth Choir Academy to sponsorship of high-calibre cultural institutions like the Salzburg Festival and the Bayreuth Festival. Culture at Audi stands for the dialog with artists and creative minds from the fields of music, design and visual arts as well as film and theatre. With this first International Jazz Festival, Audi is promoting the resurrection of Cambodia’s artistic scene.

At the launch of the Festival on Monday the 14th of December, the Audi Terminal of Phnom Penh will be welcoming the Christian Brenner Trio Featuring the renowned Danish saxophonist Martin Jacobsen (piano player, double bass player Gilles Naturel, drummer Pier Paolo Pozzi) to perform live in front of around 150 invited guests. During this concert, Audi Cambodia will be revealing the long-awaited Great Quattro, the all-new Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI Quattro.

Throughout the Festival week, the audience will undoubtedly fall under the spell of internationally renowned artists such as the Italian singer Flora Faja and the exceptional Giovanni Mirabassi Trio.
