Section B Auction Items

Live Auction Program

Professor donations

1. Max Bazerman – Lunch at Veggie Planet  (5)

Many say “as if negotiations wasn’t enough…” 5 lucky souls will have the opportunity to dine with Max at Veggie Planet in Harvard Square. Proclaimed “a winner” by diners, patrons exalt its “tasty, yet simple dishes” in a “cozy,” “unpretentious atmosphere” below Club Passim. Dishes are “delightfully” prepared “by James Beard’s nominee Didi Emmons.” Many plates “will excite even those who typically prefer, um, meat.”  So, throw those reservation prices out the window. If you can’t find a ZOPA here, you’re wrong, stupid, dumb…oh, wait, we’re not in class anymore. In any case, menu available at http://www.veggieplanet.net/veggieplanet.htm 2. Clark Gilbert – Lunch at Faculty Club (3)

Ah, Clark. What a surprise. For those who don’t know, Spangler is the step-child of The Faculty Club, HBS’ most fabulous dining hall. Atop Kresge, “the club” offers an extraordinary opportunity for 3 lucky lads and ladies to be wined and dined by our very own Prof. Gilbert. Choose from among chicken stir fry, tuna salad sandwiches….there’s even a pasta station. Top it off with chocolate bread pudding…all while rubbing elbows with Harvard’s most elite professors and visiting dignitaries.

3. Kim Clark – Golf (0 – 3: joint section bidding)

Perfect for those who are good at golf or riddled with 4’s, Dean Clark offers 3 students the opportunity to play a round of golf with him on Sept. 27th, most likely at Oakley Country Club.  Each section auctions off a spot and the 3 spots will go to the 3 highest bidders across sections.  Three highest bidders have a chance to take a spot since it is possible for all the high bids to come from one section.

4. Rob Huckman – 4 tickets to Red Sox (4)

Our very own Robbie, who fanned the flames of so many Bhammers hearts, continues his quest for eternal cuteness by offering four tickets for a Red Sox game with him and 4 students from Section F. Viewed from afar by many with his shirt off, hot dog in hand, watching pitchers and catchers take the mound to play ball…now’s your chance to see it all, up close and personal.Date:           Wednesday, April 30, 6:00 PMOpponent:        Kansas City Royals

Minimum Bid: $20 each (face value)Seats are in the lower bleachers in center field (for Fenway geeks, the seats are in rows 6 & 7 of section 40).

5. Ken Froot – Dinner (2)

Anita Tickle—eat your heart out. Ken’s donation includes dinner for 2. Like our experience in Fin2, no one knows the answer to the questions of “where?” or “when?” but…it’s sure to be a good time. Unless otherwise controlled, he will come prepared to talk about 'the puzzles of insurance markets'!!!!!”

6. Laura Alfaro – Tequilas (4)

Live la vida loca with Laura and 4 Bhammers as she takes some lucky few for a night out---latin style. Tequilas, margaritas, beer, wine, or water…gay or straight...man or woman…Laura is sure to offer an unforgettable evening. TBD: her boyfriend’s attendance.

7. Joel Podolny – cocktail party at Joel’s (8)

“Dear Richard, please let your section know that my wife and I would be pleased to offer up a cocktail party for 8 at a mutually agreed to date. The party could either be either this spring, summer, or when students return in the fall.“

8. Terry Burnham – Trading lessons or negotiation tips (1-2)

This one’s a winner. Stock Trading: Two meetings. The first to discuss some specific stocks/trades. We will end the first meeting with some predictions about coming market action. If the students are active traders, they might want to make some trades based on discussion #1. The second meeting will examine the decisions/trades made in meeting #1. Meeting #2 will probably be 2-4 weeks after the first meeting.

Negotiations tip: You will be provided with Terry’s lifetime e-mail. When you get that promotion, or that new job, e-mail him with your contact info, and he will provide you with negotiating tips.

9. Belen Villalonga – Paella dinner at Belen’s (8)

Don’t tell a soul but…Belen invites you to the comfort of her fantastic, 3br 2 bath home with vaulted ceilings and working fireplace for a festive paella dinner cooked in a 2 y/o Kenmore oven!  Wine and all other beverages chilled in her brand new refrigerator are included.  To be held at a date that is mutually agreeable to all parties.

1

Section B Auction Items10.Dennis Yao – Dinner at Legal Seafood (4)

Legal Seafood is a Boston institution. Their motto of “If it isn’t fresh, it isn’t legal” is known almost by as many people as “If it isn’t a Guatemalan monkey, it doesn’t cluck.”

Funnies

11.Chuck: 2 – Three standing ovations (1)

As if they weren’t overused already, you, too, can have your very own set of 3 standing ovations. Need a confidence boost? Want to show-up a parent? Or, do you have something really great to say? If so, then act now to ensure three standing ovations of your choosing, courtesy of the clapping rep. You can buy it for someone else.

12.Lesley & Anne – Sex and love 101

Lesley “Solo-no-More-Man” Soloman and Anne “More, more” Morris will indulge your senses with their private instruction of how to please a woman sexually and emotionally. We provide liquor and location. You provide an open mind.

13.Gaurav & Nir – Cleaning “ladies” (1)

More shocking that Gaurav in a boob tube is what he DOES in one. G-man and Nir team up to provide their own version of “Maid(s) in Manhattan.” Remember the RC 1st & 2nd place Priscilla winners?!??! These fabulous princesses will clean your toilet and boots, kitchen and bedroom especially for you! That’s right, Maid service that’s hotter than hot. You can buy it for someone else.

14.Ovi: 1 week in skydeck

Not so lucky with the new seating chart? Missing your good old sky deck heaven? Tired of upfront exposure to Laura's cold calls and Clark's jokes? Wish you could play solitaire without being bothered by Denis's trips up and down the isles? Or just about to give any hope to actually find out how life looks like seen from the sky deck?

Here's your chance: The (arguably) best seat in class could be yours for a whole week!!!

Relax and enjoy life away from the attention span of the profs - no cold calls so far this semester!

Build up your spider solitaire skills away from the indiscretion of any prof!

Participate in class interaction at your own discretion, when and if you feel like it!

Not convinced yet? Here are some more advantages you will enjoy: Sit next to Megan, Colleen, Z, Majid and Marisa - they will all

talk to you, guaranteed! (Since they need to make it to their own seats, every morning)

See if you can read all the secret IMs directly off Marisa's screen! (Marisa, pls read the disclaimer before suing me)

Arrive late at your own discretion. Yes, even later than Joon - the distance from door to the seat is so short, hardly anybody will ever notice when you enter the room!

Enjoy a direct front view of Joe when he cracks that finance case again. Also great seat to be a contemporary witness to Werner's unique rhetoric!

Witness Apu's progress at (another) new game of Civilization! Finally find out how good Jeremy is at Hearts!

Unleash your creative energy and help Rahul and the others draft the strategy for the next skydecks

Fine prints: this email contains certain forward looking statements, that should be taken as such. You cannot actually read Marisa's instant messages, no matter how hard you try. Rumors that you cannot always hear what Joon, Joohee and Pankaj say are actually true. Being late might have some adverse effects on your class participation, though a clear correlation has not been proven yet. Actual conversations with Z start with lines such: "Good morning, Ovi!", "Ovi, move it!!" and the all famous: "Ovi, move your bum!!". The seat is previously owned and will be handed over on an as-is basis. Majid's haircut will occupy up to 30% of your view at times, if you actually try to spot somebody in the worm deck. From up here, Ulrik is a hand and Lee a voice. I am not sure to this day who actually sits to Miriam's left. Noam always notices when you're late and dutifully writes you down for the next skydecks. There is no face value of this offering, though little kids in times of hardship count on your generosity! The second highest bidder must not pay the offered price, unless s/he necessarily wants to. The week in question is 04/28 - 05/02. Evidence that a sky deck seat improves your internship chances is only anecdotal.

15.Werner – Surprise

God only knows. Think Knight Rider meets spaghetti meets sheep….Courtesy of our historian.

16.Chuck: 1 – Handcuff your section mates

55.Noam – original artworks (1)

A driving force behind turn-of-the-century German Materialism, Leslau had a traumatic childhood, and was expelled (at age 5) from his home country by German authorities due to political agitation and hooliganism. He sought asylum in the United States, and found a new home in a small, rural community south of San Francisco.

Leslau’s innovative cut-and-paste technique has earned broad critical acclaim. In the words of New York Times’ art critic Nancy Rosen:

“Most of the post-modern and contemporary art of the second half of the 20th century—Warhol, Lichtenstein, Haring— is merely a foreshadowing of the profound artistic impact

Leslau will have on the American—no, wait, human!— psyche.”

This three-piece work entitled Fuck you, Rahul is a homage to America and a reflection of Leslau’s trajectory from political prisoner and refugee to Northern California dirtbag to New York corporate sell-out.
