The Auckland Wind Orchestra (AWO) aims to provide performance opportunities to brass, woodwind and percussion players throughout the Auckland region. The orchestra performs a broad range of musical styles with a special focus on original wind music. Our players come from all walks of life, united by the desire to have fun while making great music. The AWO is conducted by Opeloge Ah Sam – composer, conductor, pianist, and music teacher currently working at Kristin School on Auckland’s North Shore. The St Andrew’s Big Band (SABB) was formed in May 2011 to provide further musical opportunities to young jazz musicians in the Eastern Suburbs of Auckland. The band is directed by Hamish Arthur and rehearses on Sunday evenings in the Sanctuary at St Andrew’s Church Centre. It aims to have 3-4 charity fund-raising concerts a year as well as performing at other community events. The band is indebted to the wonderful support it receives from its sponsors and audiences.
