Attempts to radically extend the human lifespan should be welcomed not feared:

- IMMEDIATELY make clear extending lifespan is simply a side effect of curing ageing (which is curing age-related diseases): Lengthening life through the improvement of health.

- Intervening in the ageing process (postponing the ill health of old age to an older age at which it naturally occurs at) is Morally desirable

- HOW- SENS programme/sirtuin/: - A few aging mechanisms that

cause when acting together the diseases of ageing which eventually results in sickness and death and the l morbidity and loss of independence we are trying to target.

-thought behind these age related diseses and that they ought to be targeted out separately is stupid:

Think about it: What they are saying is- you start off healthy and just happen to be young then you become sick and just happen to be old. And you start out without CVD and there is a process of insulture

exposure and you get it. Yous atart of without cancer there is a diff process and you get it etc etc. and ad finitum. This is the way that disease specific research at the moment works. It also the way communicable disease research is structured and for very good reasons because there are really different causes for diff conditions. However this completely illogical when looking at agerelated diseases.- The reason why the experiments on animals in these laboratories have worked is because

they have extended healthy lifespans.- Virtually no one is disease free at 85. Goal: that everyone is as disease free as we can make

them for as long as we can make them. Av- 85 carry around 4-6 chronic conditions which compromise their independence and reduce their quality pf life. Quality of life is the goal.

- Ageing causes suffering and death. Suffering and death are bad. The removal of the causes of suffering and death are therefore a moral imperative.

- RAND group= drug which adds 10 extra years through targeting ageing problems would cost $8,790 every extra life year. Medicine to ut alzheimers effect by a third projected to cost $80,334 for each year of added life.

- Curing agine= economic benefits= higher productivity can work for longer time period.

HOW SHALL WE SPLIT THIS AND WHAT HAVE I MISSED?

"Almost every human being who has ever lived is dead. Solving this problem is the most natural, humane, and important thing we could possibly do.
