COURSE DESCRIPTIONAND REQUIREMENTS

The Modular ATPL Airplane programme is a modular proposal to obtain the Commercial Pilot License with the Single-Engine, Multi-Engine, VFR Night and Instrument Rating and finally, by completing the APS MCC course, to be able to apply to an airline to become a professional pilot. The price indicated is an approximate estimation following the order of the proposed courses.

There are some basic steps that you have to follow in order to become a

new Barcelona Flight School student:

The geographical situation of the Barcelona area makes it possible to fly 365 days a year.

The Mediterranean climate offers mild temperatures both in winter and summer with an

average of 85% of clear or partially cloudy days, which allows flying from 9 am to sunset.

This climate allows the development of courses and flying activities.

The Aeroclub Barcelona-Sabadell was created in 1953 as a result of the merger of two pioneer aviation clubs, the Barcelona Aeroclub founded in 1930 and the Sabadell and Vallés Aeroclub founded in 1931.

Since its beginnings, the Aeroclub Barcelona-Sabadell has developed pilot courses both for obtaining licences and ratings and for the improvement of its pilots in all aerial specialities.The Aeroclub Barcelona-Sabadell has nearly 70 years of experience in the teaching sector, and this experience is also transferred to the management of the fleet and operation of aircraft.

The Aeroclub Barcelona-Sabadell is a Combined Airworthiness Organisation (CAO) it is

recognised by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and by the Spanish Aviation Safety

Agency (AESA). This fact optimises the operation of the club’s fleet and makes it possible to

combine the aircraft maintenance workshop entries with the operational needs for flight.

In addition, the Aeroclub is a fleet operator for the manufacturer Cessna, which means that

parts and material for overhauls and repairs are available much more quickly. The workshop

also carries out the maintenance of private aircraft as long as the owner is a member of the

Entity.

The Aeroclub Barcelona-Sabadell is the only club in the world where you will find a wide and

varied fleet. It has a fleet of 46 aircraft for the use of members and students of the club. The

fleet is composed of aircraft with analogue and digital technology that provide service to all

aeronautical specialities.

The fleet is composed of 22 basic and advanced single-engine aircraft of 2 and 4 seats, 4 multi-

engine aircraft, 3 aerobatic aircraft, 2 helicopters, 2 simulators, 3 towed gliders, 9 gliders, and 1

ultralight.

The Aeroclub Barcelona-Sabadell has modern and spacious facilities adapted to the great

activity it generates: classrooms with a capacity of between 6 and 80 students, study room, bar-

restaurant with social lounge, hangars, Maintenance and Airworthiness Management Centre, and

several areas suitable for both teaching and leisure activities. The Aeroclub Barcelona-Sabadell

develops its activity at Sabadell Airport, at the Aerodrome of La Cerdanya and at Lleida-Alguaire

Airport. In Sabadell is located the headquarters of the entity and the facilities of the professional

and private school, where you can fly aeroplanes and helicopters as well as aerobatics. In La

Cerdanya there is the Gliding and Ultralight Flight Centre. In Lleida-Alguaire we carry out the

Private Pilot courses and we also develop the teaching activity of the instrumental flight and VFR

Night courses.

The Aeroclub Barcelona-Sabadell is also a very active club in the development of social and

aeronautical activities, so it regularly organises competitions in all its sporting specialities,

conferences on various aeronautical subjects of interest, aerial meetings and other activities for

its members.

The theoretical course consists of 30 hours of group lessons and the practical phase consists of a total of 40 hours of flight in 10 sessions of 4 hours each.

If you have the PPL-A license you can start the ATPL Theoretical Course which will serve to obtain the theoretical knowledge of all the modular courses.

PRIVAT PILOT LICENSE COURSE (PPL-A) The completion of this course enables the pilot to obtain a private pilot’s license which entitles the pilot to fly, whithout remuneration, as pilot-in-command in any aircraft used for non-remunerated flights.

The minimum requirements to do this course are:

• Being at least 17 years old • Hold a medical certificate Class II.

The theoretical course consists of 100 hours and can be done on working days, from Monday to Thursday from 18h to 21h or weekends from 16h to 20h.

The practical course consists of a minimum of 45 flight hours between the indicated single-engine aircraft

models, carried out in personalized classes and at a time to be arranged.

Once the course has finished, the student who wishes to continue as a

member of the club and therefore be able, among other things, to use

the aircraft and facilities of the Aeroclub must regularise their social

situation by paying the entrance fee of the club, which will be applied

with a 50% discount on the amount as long as they have finished the

course before or within a maximum period of 12 months from the start

of the course. No discount will be applied to the established entry fee

if the student wishes to regularise his or her social status more than 12

months after the end of the course.

TERMS AND CONDITIONSThe theoretical course is classroom based and will be held provided there

is a minimum of 3 students enrolled. The prices include the indicated

theoretical training, the practical lessons with instructor in the specified

aircraft, the examination flight, landing fees and VAT. The prices exclude

theoretical lessons in case of failure to pass the ATO’s internal exams,

medical certificate, flight time in excess of the specified time, practical

exam fees and the license application fee. The student who will be a

student-member of the aeroclub must pay the monthly membership fee

from the moment of registration. If the course has not been completed

within a maximum period of 12 months from the start of the course, the

student member must pay 50% of the entrance fee of the Aeroclub.

In the case that the course has not been completed within the indicated period, the student member will have to pay 50% of the entry fee and the monthly fee established for the use of the facilities and aircraft.

The student will be a student member of the aeroclub for a maximum period of 12 months. When taking an online theoretical course, the student will only be able to use the facilities necessary for the course until the end of the indicated period.

In the case that the student wishes to register as a member and provided that he/she has completed the course before or at the latest within the indicated period, a discount of 20% of the entry fee will be applied, provided that the maximum period of 1 year has not been exceeded since the end of the course for which he/she has registered.

TERMS AND CONDITIONSThe course fee includes digital books and Padpilot teaching software licences. Asspecified in the course requirements, an Apple device is required for the course.The course includes the detailed theoretical classes (66.5 hours of classroom-basedconsolidation and 18.5 hours of multiple-choice exams) and also includes the licence of an Aviation Exam question paper for the studen’s practice.

The price does not include additional theoretical classes or the fees for the official theoretical exams.The duration of the course is 12 months, this period also includes the time of use of the digital licenses.

The training program consists of 671 hours to be developed over a maximum period of 12 months. The course is carried out in 2 phases of 6 months each, with 8 subjects to be studied in one phase and 6 subjects in the other phase. The student must dedicate a minimum of 15 hours of study per week during the course period. The theoretical course consists of 586 hours of online teaching, 66.5 hours of classroom-based and 18.5 hours of multiple-choice exams.

If you are a club pilot you can gain experience by participating in local, national or international competitions. In addition to gaining flying experience you will learn to navigate, to share cockpit with other pilots, to control the times and to make precision landings. Participating in an air rally offers you development as a pilot and provides you with a great deal of aeronautical knowledge.

If you are a club pilot, you can get experience flying to other aerodromes and airports. You will learn and practice the planning of a trip, the applications available for it, the arrival and departure in different traffic circuits, on-road communications, the location of alternative fields and a large etcetera.

If you are a pilot of the club you can get experience flying with your family and friends when you have the minimums established in the general rules of the club. Share the experience and enjoy your flights. • During the ATPL-T course, flight experience must be acquired in order to be able to enroll in the practical part of the modular courses. In this phase it would be recommended to complete at least 100 hours of flight time as Pilot in Command, of which 50 hours should be in a cross-country flight (trip).

• The price calculation is based on basic single-engine 2-seater aircraft and in block of hours according to member rates.

AIRPLANE MULTI ENGINE COURSE RATING (ME)

The objective of this course is to obtain the multi-engine class rating needed to act as pilot in command of a multi-engined, single pilot certif ied, piston aircraft (MEP).

• Hold a Private Pilot License (PPL-A )or a Commercial Pilot License (CPL-A).• Hold a Class I o II medical certificate.• Have at least 70 hours as a Pilot In Command.

THEORETICAL PHASE

The theoretical phase consists of seven hours of personalized theoretical lessons held in a pre-arranged schedule to suit the students requirements.

Prior to the flight test there will be a theoretical exam.This exam will be passed with at least a 75% score.

The practical phase consists of a minimum of six hours of flight.The course schedule shall be arranged with the instructor and can be done with any of the following aircraft: The 6 seater, analoge avionics, Cessna 310 or Piper PA 27; or the 4 seater digital avionics Tecnam P2006T.

VFR NIGHT FLIGHT PLANE RATING COURSE (VFR-N)

The objective of this course is to train students who hold a Private Pilot License (PPL-A) to be ble to act as a Pilot in Command on flights in night VFR conditions.

Minimum course requirements are:• Be at least 18 years old • Hold a Private Pilot License (PPL A).• Hold a Class 1 or 2 Medical Certificate according to your License.

The theoretical phase consists of theoretical instruction to achieve the necessary knowledge to be able to carry out flights in VFR night conditions.

The theoretical phase can be individual on in group classes, depending on the enrolled students.

AIRPLANE INSTRUMENT RATING COURSE (IR-A)

The Airplane Instrument Rating course allows pilots to obtain the necessary rating to be able to fly under instrument conditions in an aircraft certified for this type of flight.

Minimum course requirements are:• Have passed the theoretical exams of the Modular Course Airline

Transport Pilot (ATPL-modular).• Be at least 18 years old. • Hold a Commercial Pilot License (CPL-A) or a Private Pilot License

(PPL-A).• Hold a medical certificate Class I for those who have a CPL license or a

Class II medical certificate with audiometry Class I for those with a PPL license.

DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS

The practical course consists of 50 hours of flight, of which 35 hours are done in an FNPTII simulator (ES3A042) and 15 hours on a Single - Engine Cessna 172 S.

If you wish to obtain the Airplane Instrument Rating as well as the Multi-engine Rating, you must undertake 55 hours of flight, of which 40 hours will be done in an FNPTII simulator (ES3A042), and 15 hours on a multi-engine Tecnam P2006T or Piper PA-23.

The objective of this course is to receive the training for the cooperation of the crew of a multi-pilot aircraft (MCC).

UPSET PREVENTION & RECOVERY TRAINING (UPRT)

The objective of this course, is to train pilots to recognise the aircraft’s status in different situations so that they can apply a correct strategy for the aircraft’s recovery and control.

The minimum requirements are:

• Hold a Commercial Pilot License (CPL-A) or be a student pilot in training for a Commercial Pilot License (CPL-A) or an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL-A)

• Have a valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.

This phase of a minimum of 5 hours of instruction in which the student will receive training to assimilate the theoretical knowledge of basic aerodynamics, relevant aircraft aerodynamics, physiological and psychological effects, resilience and procedures.

The flight training phase consists of a minimum of 3 hours of practical instruction in five sessions in the CAP10 aerobatic aircraft. In these sessions, recovery manoeuvres from abnormal positions such as tailspins, descending spirals, stalls, etc. will be practised until the pilot acquires the necessary proficiency to identify and recover from such situations.
