Leading up to the dropping of the bomb:· Pearl Harbor- December 7th 1941· Involvement of U.S. in WWII· Japan wouldn’t surrender· Truman thought it was the correct and only choice· American soldiers were weak from 4 years of war· 2 million Japanese soldiers were waiting to fight· Prevention of more deaths of US soldiers

Dropping of the bomb:

· August 6th 1945-Hiroshima· August 9th 1945-Nagasaki

The Aftermath:

· Hiroshima-80,000 deaths· Nagasaki- 40,000 deaths· Radiation poisoning-

100,000 more deaths· Japan surrendered Aug. 15th

· WWII ended
