The atmosphere stretches around 8OOkm from the earth.

The atmosphere protects from the harmful radiation from the sun and meteorites. It also slows down meteorites and they burn out.

The atmosphere provides us with clean oxygen and water.

The atmosphere is so important that without it we wouldn’t be here.

What Is The Atmosphere

Page 3: Atmosphere

On day one we went around all different stations ( Hydrosphere, Atmosphere, Biosphere, Manmade materials, Manmade technologies, Lithosphere) Each station had a different activities.

In atmosphere we learnt about the different sections in the atmosphere. (exosphere, thermosphere, mesosphere, ozone, stratosphere and the troposphere)

Day 1

EXOSPHERE

Page 5: Atmosphere

Day 2 we went down the creek behind the school to monitor the bad ozone levels in the area. Ozone is a mixture of gases. There is good ozone and bad ozone. The good ozone is found in the stratosphere and it protects the earth from harmful UV rays and bad ozone is found in the troposphere and is a mixture of bad gases that are made because of pollution.

Day 2

On day 2 we measured the ozone levels around the creek and measured the wind speed and temperature. The temperature reading was 15 Degrees Celsius. There was no wind therefore we couldn’t measure the speed of the wind.

Page 7: Atmosphere

We found the levels of ozone, there was none and measured the wind speed, there was also none.

On day 3 we investigated how CO2 is formed. We discovered that CO2 changes the appearance of liquids in the experiments we held.If you blow in limewater and bromothymol blue it went yellow. We got Dilute hydrochloric acid and marble chips and blew into the combination of these products making it cloudy and misty.

Day 3

Page 9: Atmosphere

We investigated the reaction of co2 in liquids.

Conclusion (3)

On day 4 we measured the Carbon heat levels and how much they rise in water compared to other liquids. We measured the temperature of the liquids over a ½ hour time period .Bottle 1 (water) started at 20 degrees and finished at 22 degreesBottle 2 (water and carbonated water)Also started at 20 degrees and finished at 22 degrees.Bottle 3 (Carbonated water) started at 20 degrees and ended at 23 degrees.

Day 4

Page 11: Atmosphere

We found that the temperatures didn’t change much in the period of 30 minutes.

Conclusion (4)

We have been successful over the last few weeks and have become masters in our area of expertise. (atmosphere.)
