ATLANTIC WALL

JUNE 6TH, 1944

Scenario: France D-Day June 6th, 1944 You are Com-manding the 29th Infantry Division as part of OperationOverlord driving East toward the heart of Fortress Europa. You have been ordered to smash through to the importantroad net junction of St. Lo as soon as possible.

Your objectives are Omaha Beach (starting point), Grand-champs, Isigny, Longueville, East of the Vire, La Luzerne,Martinville Ridge, Hill 108, and St. Lo.

Intelligence: This is it! D-Day is here! The Navy and fly-boys have been pounding the landing zones! We are notexpecting to much in the realm of defense, but its not go-ing to be a walk in the park! The krauts are waiting for usso lets not disappoint them

Time to complete the mission: Each Battle represents2 days (3 battles is a week) Results:

3 Weeks Complete Victory with the capture of St. Lo!With such a rapid advance, 3 complete German divisionshave been captured!

4 Weeks Victory!

5 Weeks Draw. The Germans managed to withdraw ingood order and have inflicted their desired delay for their reinforcements to arrive.

6 Weeks+ Resign Command. The drive has failed and Germanshave had the time to reinforce their lines and make taking St. Loimpossible for the time being.

Supply Conditions: Fully Supplied

Initiative Clock: +2

Weather Conditions: Overcast. Start at the 6am Day Segment. Each Day segment throw d6. On a 6, roll a d10 on the weather table for change.

Weather Table: 1d101-4 Overcast/No Air Support5-7 Rain/No Air Support7-8 Thunderstorm/No Air Support9-0 Clear/Mud if after Thunderstorm or Rain

General Cota (B) arrives on the Beach!: General Cota arriveswith the 4th wave and with a formation of the players choosing. He is attached and will automatically make the formation fanatic. While he is on the Beach, the Division’s Decision Die Color goesfrom Blue to Red as he was a dynamo for getting things done.He must be attached to a formation on the map. If he is killed, the Decision Die drops back down to the normal Blue Die. Therules are followed normally otherwise for Command Color.

German Deployment: Place all of the Germanforces that are in the front line on the battlefield. Those behind the front line, mark their positions ona strategic map or use markers. If using markers,

There are 6 OP’s and must be assigned toa formation before battle. Treat them as an at-tached company and can be eliminated. Once all6 OP’s are removed, there will no longer be NavalSupport fire.

Beachmaster:  At the 8am Day Segment, theBeachmaster has arrived and setup his team’sposition on one of the beach zones known only tothe American player. Once deployed, the Beach-master can redirect any Landing craft to anyBeach zone by successfully rolling on his commu-nication roll. 1d6 with a 6 failing to make the call.

German Briefing: Achtung! The invasion has started and it is not a drill! Get everyone to their positions and we musthold them to the beaches! OKW has promised us reinforcements, but some of them back at HQ believe this is only adiversion of the real attack coming at Pas Du Calais. The Battle Zone Apart from the woods, towns and villages shown on the map, the terrain is hilly andsandy.• Vierville, St. Laurent—Heavy Cover Stone Structures and each Town zone is 6in.x

6in.• Woods —Medium Cover • Road does give a road bonus for formations starting on it and in Transit Column.•

The scenario can last up to 2 complete battle days and begins at 6am• Rain/Fog/Mist will reduce visibility in the open to 20 inches and in the Woods to 2

inches• Cliff face is impassable for any vehicle—For ease of play, consider the Mountain are-

as as one level higher than the flat lands. Since visibility will plague the game, it willnot be an issue. Follow normal rules for vehicles when entering woods or mountainswhen not on the road in Transit column.

• Beach—Non-tracked vehicles must always roll for breakdown on in the mud.• Sea Wall—It must be breached with a dozer equipped formation or destroyed by en-

gineers. It provides Heavy cover and any troops prone or kneeling cannot be fired atdirectly or seen.

Mines—The German player has 4 mine fields to place along with 2 false ones.• Sea mines—A tracked formation or a formation with a dozer can clear a path at the

same width at the formation itself. Every Landing craft after the 1 wave, will need tothrow 1d6. With a 1 showing the formation hit a mine and take an appropriateamount of DM’s. Treat as if hit by 60mm mortar Regulars.

Special Rules:1. Supply—All allied divisions are assumed to start with one supply column unless destroyed in the game. After

Each battle, roll a d6 with a 1 means the division is out of supply for the coming battle unless Air Supplied.2. Air Support—Normal rules apply for air support. Roll a d6 with a 1 having a German controlled airfield on the up-

coming battlefield per Campaign Rules3. Air Supply—The Allies and the Germans follow the same rules for Air Supply. Any Division or Force Command

which is either beleaguered or out of supply may be re-supplied by Air. At least one transport Squadron mustsurvive any air combat and any AA morale rolls for it to deliver a complete re-supply. All formations of a re-supplied division which are not isolated (having a gap of at least 3 inches toward re-supply point) have been fully

re-supplied.4. Beleaguered—Any Division or Force Command that finds itself cut off (no gap of 3 inches or more from the clos-est friendly Division or Force Command) is considered Beleaguered. Beleaguered Divisions or Force Commandcannot be re-supplied by land, any formation cannot attempt to engage in Close Combat unless passing a Com-mand Roll d10 on the leader rating before the normal close assault morale test. Beleaguered Formations will alsoreceive a +1 to the Leader Close Combat roll for desperation bonus.

5. St. Lo—This is classified as a Minor City. The St. Lo battlefield, if defended, will be created following the normalrules after the St. Lo City sections have been placed. St. Lo is created by the defender placing 5 city sections inany order or arrangement beginning from the center of the battlefield. Place one airfield after the city sections areplaced, but before the rest the terrain. There is a main road that runs east to west and another that runs north tosouth as well as a rail yard made up of 2 city sections with a rail link connecting east to west. All city sections, except the rail yard, are considered heavy cover. The first city section placed is the Cathedral and is Super Heavy Cover.

6. 2 DC-3 Transport squadrons are assigned to the Normandy Area for the allies and cannot be replaced once lost.

They can be used for re-supply flights.
