Atlantic Claim Executives Association

Objectives of the Association To maintain an association of property/casualty companies and corporate self-insured claims executives whose companies are domiciled in or having as their area of responsibility, designated Atlantic coast and southeastern states.

To maintain a professional forum for the exchange of information concerning matters of mutual interest.

To promote harmony, cooperation, and cordial business relations among the members.

To encourage proper claims handling.

To discourage false or fraudulent claims.

To expose dishonest, unscrupulous or unethical practices by whomever committed.

To increase the efficiency and knowledge of members and their company claim departments.

Jorey Chernett

Jorey Chernett is the CEO and founder of Authentic4D. Jorey has a passion for building and investing in businesses. As a technology innovator and educator, Jorey’s mission has been to lead claims professionals, clinicians, and businesses in understanding how to leverage technology in the healthcare space, with the impact of improving both clinical and financial outcomes. Jorey previously served as President of D4D Technologies, LLC, a medical device company providing 3D imaging and CNC milling solutions to the $60B dental crown and bridge industry. He led the company in architecting and executing its business model, taking D4D through key strategic partnerships, culminating in a sale to strategic investors that included 3M and Henry Schein. His past includes experience as a venture capitalist (Illinois Ventures, LLC/Camelot), operator (DigitalWork, Inc.) and investment banker (Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette). He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with honors from Indiana University.

John Bond Atkinson Atkinson, PA

John Atkinson received his B.A. in History form the University of Pennsylvania in 1972 and his J. D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1975. During college, John earned distinction on the University of Pennsylvania Swimming Team and continued his competitive swimming while at the University of Miami. During his last year at Penn, he was elected to the Friar Senior Honor Society.

John was commissioned a Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps and served continuously as a Judge Advocate, both on active duty and in a reserve status until his retirement in June 2006.

His practice includes all phases of insurance litigation, including defense of catastrophic injury and death cases, coverage, bad faith, excess, umbrella and reinsurance claims, construction defect, premises liability. In 2016 the P.A.’s name was shortened to Atkinson, Attorneys At Law. From 2004 to present, John was recognized by the South Florida Legal Guide as one of the “top insurance defense lawyers” in South Florida. John was also named Super Lawyer in Florida and Nationally from 2010 to present.

Tim Fletcher, Gen Re

Tim is a Vice President in Gen Re’s Atlanta office. He manages a caseload consisting of auto liability, general liability and professional liability claims. In his role at Gen Re, Tim helps clients successfully resolve high-exposure cases and provides advice on various claim and legal issues. His duties include editing Gen Re’s Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Liability Laws Survey.

Tim is a graduate of the University of Minnesota (Bachelor of Arts, Journalism) and the Mitchell Hamline School of Law (Juris Doctor). He has earned his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation and serves a guest lecturer on Risk Management and Insurance at Georgia State University. He is admitted to the Georgia Bar.

Joe Urban, CCC

Joe Urban has ten years of consulting experience and enjoys working hand in hand with clients to improve their businesses. He currently serves as Director, Solutions and Consulting at CCC, where he leads a team driving innovation into the auto physical damage market. Joe holds undergraduate degrees in business process management and supply chain management from University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. When he’s not traveling or working, Joe will likely be found playing ice hockey, fishing, or scuba diving.

Keith Katsma, Gen Re

Keith is a Claims Executive with Gen Re in their Chicago office. He graduated from University of Illinois-Chicago with B.A in Economics and has JD from Chicago Kent College of Law. Keith has been with Gen Re for 18 years. Prior to that, he spent 15 years with other carriers. He is a member of the Illinois Bar and DRI. His specialty is casualty claims and a strong background in personal/umbrella claims.

Dena Sacharow, Keller Landsberg

Dena Sacharow is a partner with the firm, Keller Landsberg, focusing her practice in the areas of personal injury and property damage, insurance coverage and liability, and legal malpractice defense.

Ms. Sacharow attended Florida State University where she graduated cum laude with a double major in Criminology and International Affairs and she received a Certificate in Security Administration. During her junior and senior years at Florida State, Ms. Sacharow provided legal and legislative research for the Florida Guardian ad Litem Program. In addition, she spent a summer studying abroad in Prague, Czech Republic.

In 2010, she earned her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University, graduating magna cum laude in the top 7% of her class. While attending law school, she was a Notes and Comments Editor of Nova Law Review, was a member of the Moot Court Board and competed nationally in moot court competitions. Ms. Sacharow was National Finalist, 4th Best Oralist and won the Best Brief Award in the 2009 Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition. As a result of her success in moot court competitions, Ms. Sacharow was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, a national honorary society that recognizes law students who have excelled in advocacy

programs, and was named the 2009-2010 Moot Court Society's Mootie of the Year. She is also the author of “Client Communication Regarding Proposals for Settlement Can Prevent Legal Malpractice Claims,” Broward County Bar Association Barrister, October 2017, and “To Have and To Hold: Your Bar License,” Barrister, September 2018.

Ms. Sacharow is admitted to the Florida Bar, the New York Bar, the New Jersey Bar and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and the District of New Jersey. She is also a member of the American Bar Association and Broward County Bar Association.
