Two Years Ago in August Vacant Lots—-Now Filled with New Homes
Two years ago in August, SCNA held a General Neighborhood meeting with the two developers who were seeking to work with the City to develop the vacant portions of the Humboldt Greenway.
Residents came and gave their questions and input in order to help create the best community pos-sible. MyHome Source won the bid with the city and today these colorful and attractive homes offer more choices for residents looking for great homes and great communities to live in. Any questions
about the current homes available contact
Nick Riemler at [email protected] or 612-455-0705.

KIPP School Leadership Transition
Recently, SCNA received word from Mr. Cam Winton the KIPP Minnesota Chairperson of a leadership transition at KIPP Minnesota.
Mr. Alvin Abraham, who has served as Executive Director, is stepping down from his current role at KIPP Minnesota, effective June 30, to become the founding Dean and Executive Officer of the Dougherty Family College at the University of St. Thomas. The College is a new initiative offering a two-year associates degree in the liberal arts de-signed for students who demonstrate a high-level of financial need. Mr. Abraham started with KIPP Minnesota in
August, 2012, and led the organization to:
*boost student outcomes in both growth and pro-ficiency,
*grow student enrollment and add an elementary school,

*relocate to a beautiful campus with room for expansion,
*build tremendous staff talent led by two outstanding principals, and expand KIPP Through College as the oldest alumni persist through college.
Mr. Winton stated that Mr. Abraham’s transition comes at a time when KIPP Minnesota is stronger than ever. KIPP North Star Academy was named one of 35 High Quality Charter Schools in Minnesota last year and showed the highest student growth outcomes of all 145 Minnea-polis schools in the Minneapolis School Finder guide.
The interim Executive Director in place, Rebecca Gallt. She currently serves as Chief of Staff and is well-prepared to assume the role. She
came to KIPP Minnesota from Columbia University in 2010 to teach science and has since served as Assistant Principal, Director of KIPP Through College, and the teacher representative to the Board of Directors. KIPP is beginning the search process for a new Executive Director.
