The Minneapolis Police Department has an email alert service which provides targeted and timely

information to anyone who signs up.

Crime prevention specialists routinely send out email crime alerts, meeting notices, press re-

leases, and other important information to sub-scribers. For more details go to:

After entering your contact information, you can select the neighborhoods for which you’d like to

receive alerts. You’ll also be able to indicate your level of involvement. This allows the Police

Department to send out information that is most relevant to your crime concerns.

KIPP School Leadership Transition

Recently, SCNA received word from Mr. Cam Winton the KIPP Minnesota Chairperson of a leadership transition at KIPP Minnesota.

Mr. Alvin Abraham, who has served as Executive Director, is stepping down from his current role at KIPP Minnesota, effective June 30, to become the founding Dean and Executive Officer of the Dougherty Family College at the University of St. Thomas. The College is a new initiative offering a two-year associates degree in the liberal arts de-signed for students who demonstrate a high-level of financial need. Mr. Abraham started with KIPP Minnesota in

August, 2012, and led the organization to:

*boost student outcomes in both growth and pro-ficiency,

*grow student enrollment and add an elementary school,

Are you considering removing a tree or planting a tree due to the Emerald Ash Borer? The Shingle Creek neighborhood has allocated a limited amount of $50 matching funds reimbursed to provide resi-dent/property owners for various technical services,

tree removal with replacement.

*build tremendous staff talent led by two outstanding principals, and expand KIPP Through College as the oldest alumni persist through college.

Mr. Winton stated that Mr. Abraham’s transition comes at a time when KIPP Minnesota is stronger than ever. KIPP North Star Academy was named one of 35 High Quality Charter Schools in Minnesota last year and showed the highest student growth outcomes of all 145 Minnea-polis schools in the Minneapolis School Finder guide.

The interim Executive Director in place, Rebecca Gallt. She currently serves as Chief of Staff and is well-prepared to assume the role. She

came to KIPP Minnesota from Columbia University in 2010 to teach science and has since served as Assistant Principal, Director of KIPP Through College, and the teacher representative to the Board of Directors. KIPP is beginning the search process for a new Executive Director.
