‘The corporate secret garden’ would need a gardener to help educate the employees’ and local community on nutritional health and the importance of it. The gardener will also provide basic skills and knowledge on how to grow your own produce. The employer will dedicate slots throughout the week to enable the employees’ to make use of the garden. The employees’ can also go to the garden whenever they want in their breaks or even in their own time if they desire. The local community encouraged by the gardener and by being publicised will have access by prearranged groups and meeting slots made by contacting the gardener and open to employees This scheme allows the employees to let off steam and have the freedom and choice to take part in something rather than work, that they can together share and grow not only their own vegatabales but their bonds with one another and the local community. In addition to this employees can gain knowledge and understanding about living a healthy lifestyle and take that knowlege This scheme will boost morale within the company and attract new employees with its appealing qualities. The workforce will be more productive by having a closer bond with each other. Integrating the local community and breaking out the office, will help not only the garden grown but the company and its employees, obtaining recognition from other companies who will then want to follow their lead and become a healthier more happy workplace. As well as an area to grown produce ‘The corporate secret garden’ is also an area to relax and socially interact. Gardening is not everyones’ cup of tea but an area to escape to and relief stress There will be a greenhouse so that even during the winter time employees and the local citizens can still participate in the scheme. Once the employees’ vegetables have fully grown, they can either take them home or they can be taken to their canteen in the workplace to be made into a nutritious meal for them. This works as an incentive to growing your ‘The corporate secret garden’ The garden can also be integrated into smaller work environments for workplaces that don’t have the space or funding to provide a garden. This can be done by using any available space in or surrounding the workplace such as wasted space, a corner of a carpark or even finding a local community garden and teaming up with them to allow the scheme to take place. This would also be beneficial to people who work from home allowing them socialise and take a break from their workspace.
