At the heart of Incredible India
- Indore.
Rajwada Palace, Indore
We, the hospitality industry, are the first glimpse, the first impression India has to offer its guests. It’s upon us to represent the best of India - with its myriad colours and colourful heritage. To light the path to a glorious Indian experience. To leave a lasting mark that will stay in the minds of the visitors and that echoes the voice of Brand India.
The biggest celebration ever of hospitality, hosted in the heart of Incredible India - Indore!
Known for its magnificent monuments, exuberant festivities and blissful solitude, Indore woos you with the charm of its architectural grandeur and historical enigma.
Fascinating destinations near the city add to your travelling experience – from the splendid waterfalls of Patal Pani to the Omkareshwar temple to the Mandu City and more.
The gourmet paradise, Indore offers different types of eateries and is famous for its chaats, namkeens and sweets, especially the typical Malwa food items.

With each edition of this event, it has been FHRAI’s sincere endeavour to not only surpass the high expectations of the members, but also set new benchmarks in terms of innovation, excellence and grandeur.
We welcome all of you to this event.
Bharat MalkaniPresident
Dear Colleagues,
A Hearty welcome to all the delegates!
Indore is a cosmopolitan city which charms you with its architecturalgrandeur. It is a melting point of diverse religions and languages. Endowed with beautiful landscapes and a salubrious climate, it is the financial capital of Madhya Pradesh and is home to India’s third oldest stock exchange. Indore has the distinction of being selected as one of the 100 Indian cities to be developed under the smart city initiative.
Most of our members are owners and promoters of well-known hotel brands that have defined hospitality in India. Brand India has evolved based on their efforts and we in the hospitality business have contributed in no small measure towards its evolution. The theme for this year’s convention - “Brand India” - is inspired by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision based on the 5 Ts “Talent, Tradition, Tourism, Trade and Technology”. The convention logo brings together thesymbol of a flaming torch and the welcome gesture of “Namaste”.
Shri Bharat Malkani, President,
FHRAI
A total of 36,982 tourists arrived in June 2016 as compared to 15,557 during the same period last year registering a growth of 137.7%. Indeed ! A very encouraging development for the Industry. Clear sign of green sprouts emerging.
New Delhi was the favorite port of arrival in June with 42.15% using the airport, followed by Mumbai which was used by 22.94% of the tourists. Others that followed were Bengaluru (9.95%), Chennai (9.80%), Hyderabad (3.76%), Kochi (3.52%), Kolkata (2.72%), Ahmedabad (1.16%), Tiruchirapalli (1.15%) and Thiruvananthapuram (1.08%) airports respectively.
As in every Annual Convention, we have selected an impressive list of speakers who will share their experiences and new ideas for the future.
Once again, I welcome all of you to Indore and trust you will have a fulfilling convention.
Vivek Nair Convention Chairman
In keeping with the Government’s efforts to make Brand India the beacon of growth in both products and services, we in the hospitality Industry have to take up the challenge to set-up the required Tourism infrastructure for the projected 10 Million tourists to visit India by 2020 year. This can only be achieved if 180,000 guestrooms are added at an estimated cost of Rs.200,000 Crores to the existing supply of 120,000 guestrooms in all the classified categories from 1-star to 5-star Deluxe. Indeed an incredible task!
The Industry applauds the various incentives given by the Ministry of Tourism, the Central Government and the various State Governments from time to time. One such welcoming news is that among the countries that have been shortlisted for online e-visas are: Iran, Egypt, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Italy, Nigeria, Turkey, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan and Morocco. The online visa scheme that was launched in November 2013 has been steadily expanded and has become a popular alternative for tourists. A statement by the Ministry of Tourism says that the e-visa facility was most popular with the United States, that drew the maximum number of tourists (23.22%) followed by UK (14.16%), China (6.91%), Australia (5.59%) and France (4.10%) in May 2016.
Dear Colleagues,
It is once again the turn of the Hotel and Restaurant Association (Western India) to host the Annual Convention of the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) and hence, it is my privilege to extend a warm welcome to all the delegates registered to come to Indore.
Indore, the financial capital of Madhya Pradesh is a cosmopolitan city with its unique grandeur, diverse religions and languages. With its inclusion as one of the smart cities to be developed, it will further increase its importance.
