Checotah Chamber of Commerce Lawn Mower Racing Rules at the Checotah Sports Complex

ENTRY RULES:

$10.00 Entry fee, per class.Registration starts at 9:00 AM on race day Registration closes at 10:00 AM. NO Exceptions!!Racing begins at 10:00 AM.All drivers must sign a release discharging the City of Checotah / Chamber of Commercefrom liability. (Municipality / organization)

ANYONE NOT FOLLOWING THE RULES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RACE.

DRIVER RULES: 1. All racing participants must be at least 16 years old to enter the modified class.2. Long pants, Long Sleeve shirt and heavy shoes (boots) that cover the ankles must be

worn. Goggles and gloves are required. No athletic shoes.3. Full or open-faced helmet designed for racing required.4. All sharp projections such as bolts, sheet metal, etc. must be removed or protected. All

glass must be removed.5. NO alcohol allowed.6. All drivers should arrive at least 60 minutes before announced race time.7. All drivers must attend the drivers meeting before each race.8. The Technical Committee will have the final say on whether or not an entry may race.

BODY AND FRAME 1.

2. Must have original hood and rear fenders of lawn mower style.3. Must have a lawn mower frame. If stock frame is inadequate for racing, it may be

reinforced. No aluminum frames allowed.4. Minimum 4” ground clearance to frame.5. Must be stock type front axle and spindles. May be strengthened or remade from heavier

mower axles only. No go-cart spindles allowed.6. Maximum 38” outside tire to outside tire width.7. Must have a securely fastened lawn mower seat9. Wheel bearings allowed. Front and Rear wheels must be turf tires; Subject to race

officials discretion.10. No suspension allowed.11. All mowers must have a good operational brake system and be able to stop the mower

within a reasonable distance. If a mower has a chain drive-live axel setup, a brake must be mounted to the rear axle in case of chain breakage.

12. The Race officials will have final say whether a mower is legal to race.

All lawn mowers must have a number on the side of the lawn mower.9.

Must be full-size lawn mower, front engine, steering column behind motor stamped steel frame and manufactured as such, as delivered.

TRACK RULES 1. Fire extinguisher must be present at track at every race.2. If mower stalls on track, you must move your mower off the track.3. Head flagger has final say on conduct of race.4. Anyone jumping the start must go to back of pack for re-start. Second jump of start will be a

disqualification.5. Intentional ramming will be grounds for disqualification.6. Unsportsmanlike conduct will be grounds for disqualification, up to discretion of Race officials.

7. If mower leaves track, it must re-enter at the same point. Driver must yield to oncoming traffic. Failure to do so will be grounds for disqualification.

8. Flag rules must be followed or driver will be disqualified:GREEN FLAG: Raise of flag indicates start of race or times of lap. RED FLAG: All racers stop immediately and wait for instruction from flagger. BLACK FLAG: Disqualification; leave race immediately. WHITE FLAG: last lap. CHECKERED FLAG: Signifies the end of race, timed lap or practice.

CAUTIONS

1. If caution occurs on the 1st lap, there will be a complete restart, side by side. If a 2nd caution occurs on the 1st lap, repeat complete restart, side by side. If 3rd caution occurs on 1st lap, there will be singe file restart.

2. If racer causes two cautions, the racer will restart in the back.3. If cautions occur after the 1st lap is completed, there will be side by side restarts with the

person causing the caution starting in the back.4. Starting order is determined by position during last full lap completed.

Stock Class

Mower must be completely stock,original engine, transmission, frame, hood, axles, fenders, etc. Mower must be exactly like it was from the factory other than the mower deck has to be removed.

The ONLY modifications allowed are: The engine governor can be removed, pulley size changed and a gas throttle can be put on a foot control.
