KATHERYN: ANEURYSM SURVIVORA NORMAL DAY, UP AND READY FOR THE UNIVERSITY CLASS, SITTING TAKING A TEST YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR AND THEN... LIFE CHANGES. It was December 10 when 18 year old Katheryn Merary was taking an exam at the university where she was studying administration that she convulsed. Without knowing the seriousness, Ethel De Jesus, professor of the class and current vice president of the Board of Directors of , and the in-house doctor at the University, transferred her to the Public Hospital in San Pedro. She was diagnosed with a Cerebral Aneurysm and was told there was a waiting period of 2 to 6 months for the repair of her brain aneurysm. Katheryn´s mother and family where in despair as not much hope was given. They pleaded with CAMO and Dr. . Roberto Alvarez of the neurosurgical program in Santa Rosa to do the aneurysm surgery in Santa Rosa, despite knowing thelimitations of this Hospital. They asked Dr. Alvarez to perform the rst ever aneurysm surgery in Santa Rosa. Katheryn was transferred back to Santa Rosa. Her mother earned income by washing and ironing clothes for other people. The family income was not adequate to pay for the necessary pre op CT scan or medicines, so provided this funding and the surgery was immediately done. Just three months after the aneurysm surgery, Katheryn is recovering with the desire to continue her studies at the university. Katheryn has almost completely recovered and is pending the medical approval to be able to return to her studies and complete her dream of becoming a professional and helping her family survive. sta and our counterpart ght every day to provide care and resources which at times are unobtainable.
